Reef shops in your area

I will be driving through Findley, Columbus, Toledo area this evening/ tomorrow - wanted to stop in at Phishy Business but they do not do Mon/Tues.

Are there any "do not miss" dry goods/ coral stops between Columbus and Ann Arbor?

Nothing special in Findlay Pet Supplies Plus and Jack's only. Jack's is beside WalMart at the 159 exit. Ocean Treasures in Toledo has nice livestock but not many dry goods, from time to time I've seen them loaded with corals. A couple others in Toledo that I won't go back to, Tropical Reef and Coral Reef I think...
In Romulus, MI there is the Tropicorium. I've never been there yet but always have heard great things, if I remember right their hours are a little odd too. I've been to a really nice place in Lansing, Preuss Pets. Biggest selection I've ever seen... drygoods, fish and coral. Last time I was there they also had a lot of used Tunze stuff too, skimmers, etc... Prices were a little high but the quality looked good. Maybe 4000 square feet of salt water, as a guess, then as much fresh water, then other pets too.

HTH!

BTW You might look at my stuff for sale thread to see if any of those items interest you. I'm a half mile off I-75 at the 159 exit.

I onced stopped by a place called Gary's. Is it still around? I have not been to Trilby Tropicals. Where at in Toledo?

I thought I went to Ocean Treasures once (man/woman run it, parking right in front, small place? - but not sure).

Gary's has been gone for a couple years now. Ocean Treasures is on Glanzman at Byrne if I remember right, yes, small place in a little strip right by the street.

I've been in Trilby's a few times, never really been that impressed. I've always thought they were still aimed more at FW. Lots of SW tanks but sparsely stocked. Nice enough place, last time I was in was 8 or 10 months ago.

Too bad you can't make it to Phishy Business, best store I know of. I'm usually good for about $100 there when we go to Columbus...:eek1: Ever been to Aquarium Adventure in Columbus? They're way overpriced but usually have lots of everything.

My Dad tells me there is a place right on the edge of Napoleon that he passed a few times while he drove a delivery truck. He doesn't know the name and thought maybe they had odd hours. Any idea what he is talking about??

I guess it has been a while for me. I stopped at Gary's when off 75 but thought they moved over off 23, is that the closed one?

As for Tropicorium, last time I was there hours were 1-5 Fridays, something similar on the weekends. I did not realize the walkin hours were everyday now. I will likely try to hit it.

thanks

Yes, Gary's is completely closed. He moved from Perrysburg over to Conant St in Maumee. Like I said before I'd guess it's been almost 2 years now since he closed shop.

The place Kenny is probably talking about is Sea 2 Sea, at intersection of SR 281 and SR 108. I've been there once, small place but had a nice selection of fish and corals. He's only open a few hours on Fri-Sun but he told me if you call or email him, he would open up if he'll be around. Prices were pretty reasonable.

Don't go to Tropicorium unless you have several hours to spend. It is fantastic. They always have weekly specials that are crazy. You have to go to their website:
www.tropicorium.com
and print off the special page to get the discounts.

I am in the area again, thinking about Tropicorium tomorrow but it is about an hour out of the way. I have not been there for several years.

My options are perhaps (Sea2sea) and Phishy Business, both of which are pretty much on my way OR Tropicorium.

I am looking for ricordia and colorful zoos.

Which would you recommend?

Ditto on Sea2sea. They don't have squat. Tropicorium on the other hand is a warehouse filled to the brim with coral.
