Reef Solution

Is it better to dose everything seperate or will the reef solution work just as good? I'm getting different info from the LFS's. Some say that RS is good others say to dose seperately. What do you think?

Thanks, Troy

In general, I am not a fan of cocktails of additives that are dosed whether you need them all or not. Worse yet for Reef Solution, I can't see from their ads a single ingredient listed, nor any specific thing that it actually adds to the tank.

I recommend that folks add calcium and alkalinity, and magnesium if it is necessary based on testing. The only other things that I add are iron for macroalgae and silica for sponges/diatoms/snails/etc. Nothing else in the way of inorganic ion additions has been demonstrated to be beneficial for most reef aquaria.
