Reef Stores in Northbay?

Lazyd, thats a good update. We generaly like to support the local stores and we were hoping that these stores would start doing SPS and maintaining better water quality. Also the local stores could do a better job of supporting local clubs because in return it will help their bussiness. Our local club is growing everyday with new members.

I am sure after this update the club members will give the new change another look and report back.

I hope you guys don't ask for club discounts at these stores. It would contructive if you had a conversation with the store if you had concerns about the quality of their livestock. Maybe they would take some of your advice. Regardless of my opinon of NB Aquatics or any other store. I do not think I would voice them on a public forum like this.
 
One of the way for a bussiness to grow is by word of mouth, if a bussiness takes good care of their customers then that sell itself, the customers will return and bring in their friends and so on. If the customers are mistreated, they will not come back and also warn others so they dont receive the same bad experience. How else can word of mouth be spread if not in Public ???? Its true that some of the concerns should be brought to the Vendors attention, but when many people are having the same experience then what's the point in trying ?

before people buy anything, they do research online, reading reviews of the products and reviews of the stores, you got Cnet rating, ebay rating, all kind of ratings and all those informations are out on the net in public. So I have to disagree with you on this.

What?

Whats wrong with asking for a club discount. It benifits the store by the same people that are getting a discount go back to other people that are interested in the same hobby that spend alot of money to encourage them to shop at that same store. I would imagine thats why OT gives that same club discount.

And as for not discussing any store, this is part of what this fourum is about. To enlighten people about different stores, ones that are worth going to and ones that are not. You yourself have talked specificly about not using specific stores because you do not beleive that their standards are up to par, so your coments seem kind of hypocritical. Mabe you can explain further what you mean.
 
There is nothing wrong with critizing a store or praising a store on the forum but my my point is if you diss a store on the north coast reefers reef club forum don't be surprised if they don't offer the a club discount.
The club gets a 20% discount at OTA and as far as I know it is the same at Caesars but if there is no support from the club where is the motivation for a store to give a discount to club members.
I am just saying lets not blow it for the people who do shop at those stores.
 
coralfarmer, Im not implying they are a bad store at all. In fact, I made my posts because I think they are more then deserving of our business, or a second look at the minimum.

I was not aware of the 20% discount at certain stores, nor am I member of the Northcoast Reef Club, in fact, I am just a north bay resident. I came here because it makes it much more inviting to talk to people who live in the same area...

Personally, I dont see why its such a bad thing to say that they have had their ups and downs. From what it looked like people had written them off as a reputable store (Look at jeffkluse's post) and I was simply saying that yes, they have had their troubles but things are looking much better for them. If that is being perceived as a bad thing, my sincerest apologies...

I know that some of the employees of Northbay Aquatics know about Reef Central, im not sure on how much they read it, but if they see this then if you got offended by anything I said, dont take it out on the Northcoast Reefers....

My reply was not directed at you I thought that your post was very constructive. My comments were not meant to be taken so seriously They were geared towards some of my friends who are club members.They know who they are. I have worked at 6 different LFS over the last twenty years including NB Aquatics in the late eighties and the mid nineties and at caesars for ten years and now at OTA in SF so I know that every store has its problems. But I do see alot of threads on reef central directed at critizing a LFS with the person or persons starting thread having no knowledge of what is going on at that store. Then I usually will check that person's gallery and look at pics of their aquarium and all I am saying is "people that have glass aquariums should not throw stones in their house." the proverb goes something like that???

There's is nothing you can say to change my opinion of Northbay Aquatics.

I don't think there is anything you can do to turn that into a "reefers store ( I don't need any "chocolate zoos") ." They are a beginner store... where you go when you don't know any better. Besides at 20% off, you'd still be paying 200% markups compared to more reputable stores.

You know, I'm just mad because that store had always been kinda dumpy until Nate started turning the place around. Then, he splits and back downhill they go. I just had an experience not too long ago and they ended up giving me store credit and the only thing worth purchasing was 160 gallon Instant Ocean for retail two times over. :eek1:

Everytime I walk out of NB Aquatics I think to myself that I'm not ever gonna go there again and then 6 months later I decide to give them another chance. And there I am I find myself leaving thinking the same thing as the last time i came in :lol:
