tanks looking good, and that aquascape has really grown on me. keep up the good work. can't wait to see how she progresses.

Haha thank you :)
The worse part is just waiting now.... *sigh*
But I've learned my lesson from previous tanks to wait and not impulse buy haha.
I really like the front island the most, I haven't been able to take a photo of it yet that shows off its ledges the best, but it has 3 different ledges that I think when have matured acros will show really great depth :)

the infamous first skimmer shot :p I feel everyone posts one during the cycle.

<a href="http://s1113.photobucket.com/user/Reef1589/media/skimmer.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/skimmer.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo skimmer.jpg"/></a>

She's really getting the good stuff!

Here is what under the tank looks like as of right now, the only things not hooked up are the Dosing Pumps, I don't see the purpose in running them right now..

Also the Light im using for the fuge is just Temporary, as I plan to go out and buy a par38 bulb.. just haven't gotten around to it yet haha.

<a href="http://s1113.photobucket.com/user/Reef1589/media/fuge1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k507/Reef1589/fuge1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo fuge1.jpg"/></a>

What's your opinion on pulsating xenia in the fuge for a natural filter feeder.. ?

and when I get the new refugium light all hooked up, itll be on the Reef keeper timer opposite of my daylight schedual.

also when I do hook up my dosing pumps, its best to have them dose during the night right? or does it matter?

what a great beginning! glad to see some updated shots. I would dose small increments throughout a 24 hour period to keep things stable 24/7, rather than high spikes at night or spikes during the day. Have you seen the marineland 11" led light, those things are killer for growing chaeto. I have two and I find it very reasonable for the money. you could get away with lighting the fuge 24/7 also. I light mine 18hrs a day on a tank I own just to give 6 hours of sleep time for critters within the chaeto (my personal touch). ditch the xenia idea. it'll overgrow the fuge and when you have to prune the xenia, it'll pollute the tank. Can we see shots of your lighting, im very interested if you put up the hyrdas with t5 lighting!

ill have to check out that marineland, I was looking at Par38 LeD bulbs that are in the 5100 spectrum.. and would kind of run it how you said.. 18 hrs or so..

AND sadly as of right now I don't have the Hydra 26's..and T5 setup, that's just my plan.. I wont have that setup until the middle of may. im waiting for some funds to come threw still sadly :(

but with all this here..and running im getting anxious and impatient ha.. but I got time seeing as I have to wait for this cycle to be over.

right on, well at least you have the ball rolling. par 38s are nice but i find that they are a little terrible on the spread/intensity ratio. I felt like the marineland 11" gives a nice even spread as well as intensity throughout the spread. with the par bulbs, they will grow chaeto very nice within the circumference of the bulb but as you move out to the edges it dims significantly. All in all, it depends if you wanna grow a ball or deep mat of chaeto. Thinking about it in your situation a ball would be better due to the live rock in fuge as well as send bed for future cleaning. When I run my fuges, I don't utilize a sand bed or LR because i'm against nitrate traps and just have chaeto to suck nutrients as well as breed pods.

ya, my only reason for wanting to do a par38 bulb was to focus light on just the refugium... and not have light spread into the other chambers and grow nuisance algae there, pretty much just like you said it grows chaeto nicely in the circumference of the light but dims on the edges.. , BUT as you insisted the 11'' would also work and give me an even light spread and I might actually do that because I find some par bulbs are just to yellow for my liking, and the marineland is white/blues correct? the fixture I have down there now 18'' long is an Aqueon led fixture my friend gave me for free, and it is White/Red LeD's with 1 lunar blue led lol..

also the only reason I added that big piece of live rock was because it came out of my old tank and had Large amounts of Pods in it... so wanted to kind of get it to populate my fuge and the chaeto.. im unsure if ill leave it in there for now, as its a little larger than I would like.. (I originally planned a smaller rock for my fuge) and I want to kind of do some display macro algae's..

also im going to take the xenia out

the marineland 11" has been growing my chaeto just fine and it is a crispy 6500k light. Would recommend running it parallel with the width of the tank. turn it 90 degrees from the position of the fixture you have now if that makes sense. so that it covers the width of your fuge chamber. not length (left to right). definitely just seed the chaeto and take the rock out. once its seeded put another dry rock in there if your keen on keeping rock down there. only problem with the light is mounting it because you can't easily clip on or staple and hang from the top. a nice acrylic mount would work out nicely or glue some acrylic legs. This is how I have mine mounted, a little unsual but it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mefj9579sk4 in the video the lights are very far from the chaeto because its a very strong light especially 2 units.

Thanks for the sump/chaeto pics. I'm going to use a PAR20 LED bulb. It has 4000K, 460nm and 630nm Blue and Red LED's.

that sounds like what I want, can you link the one you are going to use please?

I finally took down my small 10g that's been holding all my stuff for the past year... just a small colony of Armor of God Zoa's and some random bright orange ones.. and then I had a mini colony of Branching Psammacora? im not sure.. , lost half of it in the transfer, but wasn't much I could do.. :( except hold off on the transfer but the Girlfriend was getting kind of upset about have 2 tanks setup in the living room and the 10g was a huge Eye sore.

So a small update, ive finally finished buying all my equipment i decided to go with (1) AI Hydra 26 and (2) 24'' t5 Fixture's with a ATI Coral Plus bulb under each reflector, ive since added the Digital Aquatics DP1 Module (ATO) and another Pc4 Module.
i also did a DIY Light rack.. turned out nicely, i also finished the Cabinet and shelf part to hold all my stuff and hide anymore excess wireing. sadly under the tank tho, there is still wire clutter, that im trying to think of ways to get rid of it or better organize it.

im not growing too much coral yet, mostly just hair algae, that im trying to get under control, i have a couple tester pieces in the tank, 1 that RTN'ed and the other 2 Bleached out, but still have their tissue, one actually started laying a small base as well..

here is some pictures for everyone =]
