Reefbreeders, Hydra52, buildmyled or Razor 16K

Joe,
Thats going to be nice! Are you going SPS with the tank? Thats going to be plenty of light. Your bill is going to drop like crazy if your running metal halides right now.
Did they ship your light already?

fletch999,
Wow! at 15.00 a head thats alot of denero on that rock! I see them for 15.00 a head all the time! Did you buy the rock like that, or have they been spreading?
I heard they can spread a few every 4 weeks or so?

Started with 7 on the plug and it has been almost 2 years since I got them. I have sold probably 50 as well.

Zack,
I know the smaller Kessils would not be strong enough for my tank. And with SPS I would need quite a few of them I think. Also, I prefer the full spread of the Reefbreeders layout. And the Reefbreeders come with a built in controller too.

Haven't gotten into any sps yet. No MH, currently running a 4 bulb coralife lunar aqualight with ATI bulbs. I'm looking forward to only having one plug for the reefbreeders vs 3 for my t5 which will free up some space on my reef angel controller for other useful equipment.

Joe,
You will love the one plug with no mechanical timer! I did and do! I just stepped into the 21st century from a metal halide with mechanical timer!! I dont miss the heat and hot spot at all. And I am done changing bulbs too!
How do you like the Reef Angle controller? I have been maybe thinking about getting a Apex. Just not sure I want to put all my eggs in one basket with a controller. But they can do alot of really cool and handy things!

The biggest ones I can see is a mobile temperature alert and water level! Those 2 right there would pay for the controller multiple times over!

I love the reef angel. So many options and can control outlets from my phone/computer. Can check parameters from anywhere. You can even program your vortech pumps with them to be completely random or to go to a certain percent at night (with an adapter). The options are really endless. Check out their web page and let me know if you have any questions. Rob over there is also very quick with responding to questions/problems you have

Yeah as of right now I have it programmed for a light timer, I have it set to shut off pumps for feed mode and water change mode, heater controller, it will shut off lights , heater and will kick a fan on if the water goes over a set temp, ph monitor. I haven't added any other modules yet but there's a lot more it can do. It came with 2 float switches for an auto top off that I haven't set up yet. It has 8 outlets and can do all that out of the box, the only thing I added was the wifi adapter to monitor/control from phone/computer.

Oh and it also has the ability to dim LEDs out of the box, however, it won't work with the reefbreeders (but you wouldn't need that as it has its own controller built in). I do believe you can get an adapter for the ai sol and or the radion series LEDs or if you had a DIY led setup you would just need a compatible driver. I did all the math when I was looking at reef controllers and I believe you get more options for less money. Like I said I got the reef angel pro and the wifi add-on and it came out to be less than the apex.

Programming can be a slight pain if you aren't familiar with programming. It does come with a programming wizard but I personally like doing the coding myself, and if you want it to do a certain function and can't figure out how to code it, just post over on their forums and Rob will usually have it posted up within a day, just copy and paste (in the right place), load it up to the controller and bam, you're all set

Thanks Joe! I am looking into that unit as well. I figured if it saves my tank 1 time, it paid for itself at least twice over!!!!!
** ATTENTION ALL REEFBREEDER OWNERS AND POTENTIAL OWNERS***********
GREAT NEWS: I got a hold of a Kill O Watt meter today and plugged my ReefBreeders Photon 32 into the unit.
At my high noon time, I run my Blue channel at 50% and my whites/violets/reds at 40% for about 4 ours.
OK, IS EVERYONE SITTING DOWN, DRUM ROLL PLEASE...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Alright, I am pulling 0.79 amps and 121 volts!!!!!!! Multiply both numbers for wattage and we come up with .................................95.59 watts used!!!!! I have one word..............................................AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Now I cannot attribute all of this to the led's straight pinpoint light source. What I can attribute it to is PUR. And PUR is that narrow window inside the PAR spectrum that really excites the Zoozanthellae!!!
And this can be manipulated heavily with the correct amount of LED's in the proper spectrum band. And I am thinking i need to back my led's down possible a tad more, but I need to wait at least 5 more days to come to a conclusion as to whether I need to do so.
The heavy violet part of the spectrum seems to be key, and reefbreeders has a boat load in that area!!!
WOW!!! Can I get down into the 80 watt range and grow SPS.............hmmmm, I am thinking its down right possible!

Hi guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have ordered the new Eshopps IV doser. It will be perfect to dose a few things that my reactor I know cannot do.
So with the reactor and the dose and my ATO I will be good to go. Trying to automate my system before it really starts using up the elements! This will make it much easier on the corals and me.
Next purchase will be a automated valve and gauges for my reactor. Then I should be good to go. My lights are doing their job nicely, and i love my Bubble Magus skimmer. It's working very nice as well.
So far so good!
