Reefer 170 ZEOvit SPS Tank

Beautiful! I'm setting something very similar up here soon! Going with a 28 gallon Deep Blue rimless SPS reef. Considering zeovit, doing some more research into it!

Not a good update:

This morning I was called off of work since its so slow in the restaurant... Sweet, now I can take care of some of my wife's chores and run some errands.
After I made breakfast and all, I figured I'd look into some of my Acro's to see how their tissue and growth is since I had about 3 out of 8 not doing so well..
Come to find out, on my healthiest acro, I have bite marks and some eggs on the base of it... Come to realize, the Acropora in poor health are being eaten away!!!
Time to take this day off and put it towards dipping my Acro's and getting them pest free.

On a much better note, my beautiful lady and I got hitched on Saturday! They say rain brings good luck to marriage on the wedding day. Well, we got floods. So much that our Pastor couldn't cross the flood in his car so luckily I had our F250 to get us through lol.

Congrats on the marriage! im interested in how your running your lights. i have the same set up and im really not sure where to start. how high to do run your lights over your tank? could you post your graph?

Thank you.

I'm running them about 12" off of the water surface using the HMS mount. Below I will post the links to the profile I'm using (Ecotech Marine's SPS AB+ mock profile for AI Hydras). A few people and I are having some pretty awesome success with it so far!

If your Hydra 26HD / Hydra 52HD are around 12" off the water, here's this profile https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akco_cmvvLNrgZhvyvRF4Kf5orQL7w

My absolute favorite Acropora was hit very hard. Went from beautiful to basically dead.
A pic below is what is was just about 3-4 weeks ago:

And here was the bottom of it today:

Not only did it have a bunch on the bottom of the Acropora, but it had quite a few patches of it below on the rock. Unfortunately I couldn't get a clear picture, though I did manage to glue the whole area to prevent it from spreading.

After dipping my green with blue tipped Acropora, this is what remained at the bottom of the cup. Not sure how much was poured out with the rest of the water.

Here is an FTS with an orange filter tonight. As you can see, some Acropora were removed and tossed due to their health. The big green Acropora is affected as well and has had its area of eggs glued. It's truly sad to see. My tank was doing so amazing, and some corals are, including the ones being attacked. But its completely my fault for not dipping. This is just another stupid reminder to DIP YOUR CORALS!!!!

Dang sorry to see this. Tank is looking wonderful still. Just do the dips and hope for the best!

Congrats on the marriage! You've had some bad luck with the bubble algae and now those pesky biters. Hopefully it resolves easily.

Congrats on your marriage.
The flat worms are just a speed bump in life.
May you have many happy years of acro keeping together.

Thank you guys!

So I got to fragging and dipping today. One of my acro's I couldn't tell if I saw bugs on there or just pods walking around on the coral. However, after dipping it I noticed polyps being extended and what not.

I chopped off the bases of my other corals getting rid of the egg's on the dead spots of the acropora. Everything so far is doing well with great polyp extension.

This is some pictures from today. I felt pretty determined as I added Kevin Hart's Meme, "Its about to go down" from one of his funniest little skits.

And here was the aftermath. I created some make-shift frag racks using egg crate for temporary use.

Hentz,

I am really sorry for all the problems with pests. I just did a tank upgrade and one of my corals wasn't happy about it at all. I know it's not pests but the only coral in my tank not happy about the change is my mini colony of Cali Tort. It hasn't had any polyp extension since the upgrade and has been slowly stn'ing ever since from the tips down.

Have you ever run into this kind of an issue? I have over 50 different sps in my tank between my display and frag tank and only the mini-colony of cali tort in the display is doing this. I am afraid to make any changes since all parameters are in line since everything else is ok.

No big deal! Just a little bump in the road.

Did you use the same kind of water or rock or anything from the original tank? A tank move can be stressful. Upgrading tanks, its completely normal to see a loss in some coral. Gratefully, you're only seeing the loss in one out of 50. Do not make any changes, especially for just one acropora having problems. But maybe its just not taking to the move well. That would be my only guess. Some corals stress more than others during events such as an upgraded tank.

My best advice would be to set it a little lower in the tank, maybe, and keep an eye on it. Or even search the acropora for any possible pests.

Mind your dammmmmmnnnnn motherf***ing business b****!

I absolutely love that sketch :lol2:

Sucks about the flatworm but I'm sure you will power through and beat it.

@.Pandy. - I love it too, its one of my favorites haha.

I think I will! Most of it is gone. I've really really thoroughly dipped my corals. I know its only been a few days, but I've been monitoring morning and night, each coral with a very powerful flash light for bites. Everything is even more happier than before and even already noticing new growth on the frags I cut up for dipping.

I also kind of took a ballsy step today. Here in Las Vegas, we had an annual frag show.. And well, of course they always have some cool stuff for a nice price.. I purchased my first Walt Disney frag for a great price off of Devin Berry from World Class Corals, I've bought corals from in the past. Great and insanely hardy Acropora is what I've always received from him. I also picked up a Blue Millepora frag, a random Millepora which he says gets a pretty green base with blue tips, and a super yellow Pink Lemonade. Also got a very generous sized Tort and Rainbow Acro from other vendors.

While I am battling AEFW, which I'm pretty sure are very low to gone especially with a hungry Yellow Coris swimming around, I took the ballsy move and am adding these to my tank.

I'll post some up-close pictures later when they're on my frag rack!

But until then... Here's a little sneak peak :D

Risky business! But hopefully it turns out good.

I've found eggs and three big flatworms tonight myself :headwally:

So Acro's have been in four a full day now. They all seem quite happy so lets hope they stay that way!

Everything looks good color wise, but that Walt Disney just POPS!!

Here is a random Acropora I picked up from a vendor at the Frag Swap. Forget the name of it, didn't have much "named" Acropora, which I could usually care less about. But this was a Something Rainbow, forgot the name lol.

Here is a Cali Tort from DC Corals. They had some gorgeous stuff for sale!
