whats the difference between the Reefkeeper Lite and the Elite or is there something else that I should looks at?

Are there features on the Elite that I just have to have that the Lite does not have?

Their website is pretty informative. You should check it out.

www dot digitalaqautics dot com

Didn't want to step on any toes, don't know if I can post their site or not. That's the reason for the way I put it.

I am hoping for a review from someone who already made this decision between the two and their thoughts. And if after setting it up they thought they made the right decision.

I have it and wouldn't go with anything diff. Come check it out if you want, and my buddy chuck has the same and im sure he can chime in also about the elite.

There all ok for single functions and what not- but if you want to go the extra mile profilux and in my case Aquatronica have tons of expandability and XY programing that simply are ahead of the curve on the so called normal aquarium controllers.

I can't imagine me ever needing more than 63 modules. Who would need to expand anymore than that?

Not exactly sure what you mean by XY programing Gas but the RKE can be programmed to do some fairly complex situations.

That type of chart is exactly what I am looking for. Thanx. Could not find it on there sire. Gasman I am afraid to look at what those cost.

If you want web access and phone alerts and things like that then you MUST go with the Elite (and purchase the NET module separately). If that doesn't matter then the Lite might fit your needs. The Elite gives you "more" of a lot of things.

Link to a comparison chart.

So I have decieded on the lite now I am picking the model. But it does not seem to add up.

Level 1: ($99.99)
1 x Head unit
1 x PC4 (4 outlets)
1 x temperature probe
OK level 1 is straight forward.

There is no level 2 anymore.

Level 3: ($279)
1 x Head unit
2 x PC4 (total of 8 outlets)
1 x SL1 (Inputs: pH, ORP, Temperature, 2 x Switch Ports)
1 x Temperature probe
1 x FREE Digital Aquatics pH probe

So I want to break down the cost of level 3.

1 x Head unit + 1 x PC4 (4 outlets) + 1 x temperature probe ($99.99) +Second PC4 $90 +SL1 $70

$99.99 + $90 + $70 = $260 But Level 3 is $280. $20 more for ordering the kit. Wait factor in the $40 PH probe...but wait that is FREE. Or is it?

Anyone explain this one too me.

No he didn't. And he is correct. It doesn't add up to a FREE PH probe. It adds up to a half cost PH probe.

I'd call em out on it. They might knock another $20 off for you for pointing it out to them.

Here were there responses to my inquiry:

DA:>As far as the pricing goes, the RKL L1 and L3 also have support hardware
that affects the price that is not included in your equation. That said
you seem to have all the final pricing correct.

ME:> I am trying to make the decision between the two. Which support hardware does it come with.

ME:> Humm it looks like they both come with the mounting hardware and bus cables. Or did something change. If they did what parts dose one have vs the other. It also said that the RKL (from Feb 09) P1 is $149 and the RKL P3 is $279. Lookes like there was a price drop on package 1 to $99.99 and no price drop to package 3. That explains the value change.

DA:>Yes they both come that, however one has more because it has more equipment.

Best as I can figure they did a price drop on Level1 from $149 (the origional price from the sales sheet from 2/09) to $99 but they did not change the price of Level 3 to reflect the new price. By doing this they removed the advantage of buying the larger kit. There is a truth in advertising issue here. The sum of the whole has got to be less than the sum of its parts. The P3 package should be $249, which is $10 less than the sum of the parts. At $249 I'd buy it.

Hey ninja I could be wrong, however, i am in the same boat as you. What i was gonna do was buy the level one and then buy the SL2.. not the SL1. The SL2 is now compatible with the LITE and has the same inputs except it has an input for a salinity probe to. Check it out.

WD40? As in the lubricant. A slippery guy arent you. LOL.

Yes I saw that. It became avaliable yesterday. I also asked them if I could sub that into P3 but they said no.

I wonder if we have enough people to do a group buy. and save a few bucks?

you can program the reefkeeper 2 w/ MyReef to run through a server and be internet accessable. Cant change any of the running equipment but you can see your ph, temp, charts, and webcam.

I had mine setup so I can view it through my phone, that was pretty cool i must say. And it worked well on a 1G network. I would love to see it on the 3G.

Yea you must not be married. My wife would kill me if I was checking my fish tank from the mall.

is this only for if you have something like a protein skimmer? I dont see why its so good? I put my lights on a simple timer, powerheads have wavemakers and when i get more sps in a bit i put my dosing pumps on timers

my RK2 cost me $125. how much was your ph monitor, power strips, timers, temp probe, etc...

and no, im not married. Ive seen what that does to a man.

Marriage is the Benjamin Button of the 21st century.

Turns a Young Man Old and an Old Man Young.
