Reefkeeper lite

Just received my reefkeeper in the mail today and was wondering if anyone has one or has any experience with setting one up?

Thanks,
Rob

I have one, and those instructions are pretty much worthless. For what are you using it? I had 2 BRS dosing pumps and a heater. I don't dose at the present time, so only the heater on now. For some reason, something to do with wattage I guess( someone with more knowledge of such can explain), you have to use outlets # 1 and 4 for pumps.

Right now I have it controlling my lights and I'm trying to calibrate the itemp probe for my heater. I also want it to control my powerhead so it cycles on and off randomly. All in all it's a pretty cool little piece of equipment and looks nicer than a bunch of timers and power strips!

I want one to run a heater/lights/calcium reactor so unfortunately I can't get the Lite. I think I need the basic plus, with the pH probe. I shouldn't complain too much though...you shouldn't ever run a calcium reactor without a pH probe and solenoid that function properly.

If I remember correctly, the Temp prob is supposed to come already calibrated. Says so somewhere in the fine print.

Yeah I now have the temp probe hooked up and going but I can't for the life of me find the "heater" selection under the function menu. I have been through every menu but no "heater" not one single thing says heater nowhere can I find this mysterious heater function.

I think my firmware is not updated or something but since my computer is a p.o.s. I can't download some integral part of the reefkeeper updater. Balls

I just wrote a whole paragraph and it kicked me off.
You have to get on the computer and download the new updates and instruction manual. It is kinda ridiculous and cryptic. First you go to Digital Aquatics web site. Then you sign up for the message board. Then you can do a search for instruction manual.
I believe you will be much happier if you take the time to set it up right form the beginning. There are several presets you can use, but you get better results if you set it up with more detail. You can set how much you want the temp to fluctuate during the day or shut off the lights if the temp gets too high.

Yeah that's the problem my computer sucks and I can't get some kind of .net Microsoft software loaded and the reefkeeper software requires this software.

Heater is under Module then Function with fan, lights, chiller and so on.

Why don't you PM me your email and I will email you a PDF User manual

go to the Digital Aquatics support site and look for the FAQ on the RKL. Look for the Basic Programming Guide - it gives some examples for common setups. Keep in mind that this is for the older firmware.

I have the manual I have joined the Digital Aquatics forum. The Reefkeeper software requires .Net framework in order to function. ( or so my computer tells me) I have downloaded .Net framework and my computer is lacking something that wont let me install the .Net framework. Back to the DA support forum I go to do some searching. Oh and I have firmware version 1.03 if that helps.
