Reefkeeping Magazine cover photo- PM CITY!

Commencing hatred
I couldnt believe the picture when I saw it. It's like putting a picture of of tang on there with HLLE (and almost as bad as Marine Depot releasing there catalog with a close-up pic on the cover of an acro with red bugs).

thats pm? What are you looking at that indicates its PM? Not questioning your call here I just am new to clams and am now extremely weary for PM but I don't know what to look for.

See how the mantle is all wavy and undulated? This is the mantle tissue curling upward and inward. This is atypical, and is a telltale sign of PM.

I saw that too when RC was down. I don't know much about PM but that clam doesn't look right.

It does not look like pinched mantle to me. Just looks like a healthy crocea in high water flow.

Thats just what people with PM in denial say!:D

I find it hard to belive that strong flow would only make the mantle ripple in those tiny little sections, while the mentle 2 mm over is flat. And the current doing so from both side equally?

I've seen clams that looked that way and the owners told me they've been like that for a very long time, so maybe PM can be cronic as well as deadly.

Yeah, so the symptom of having a mantle with a pinched appearance can be caused by something other than the disease called pinched mantle. I guess that could be it too.

So all white bubble corals are suffering from bleaching?

I don't get it. I'm agreeing with you that the clam pictured in Reefkeeping and the clams I've seen that "appear" to have pm for years might not. It just may be a similar outward appearance caused by something entirely different. Wasn't being sarcastic if that's what you thought.

come on guys, fighting on the internet is like playing in the special olympics, even if you win you are still a R37@9 (Censored for the little ears out there)
