Reeflo Dart Help Needed

I plumbed my reeflo dart yesterday and it's not as quiet is i expected. is there a break in period for these? - do they get quieter?

It's under my and sitting on 1" of insulation foam and there is definitely a humming sound and a rattle sound - not too loud of a rattle - the rattle can only be heard when the stand door is open. I think its coming from the impeller.

please help if you have some experience with this pump.

did you reduce the intake? YOu might want to take the valute front cover off and see if everything is tight and there's nothing inside.

golfish...i reduced it to 1" to four 1" returns.

Why would you reduce the input, that causes Bubbles to form around the impeller and makes sounds similar to small rocks being tumbled around in it.

you can not restrict the input of darts... can you relpumb it so that the inlet is the correct size?

wo wo wo...sorry...i was talking about the returns being reduced....the intake is two 1.5" bulkheads teed to 2" pvc to the pump. sorry - i misread what you said. The return is reduced to 1" to 4 x 1" bulkheads.

Mine is 1.5" at the intake and all plumbing pipes are 1.5" til it's at the tank reduced to 4X3/4". The pump sits outside it's warm but not hot and makes very soft humming noise, almost unnoticeable.

I agree with loc, any kind of reduction before the 4 bulkheads will cause the pump to choke creating noise.

It needs to run 1.5" pipe all the way to the 4 1" bulkheads. For this I used 1.5" tee's with a 1" output on the tee's midpoint.

I see more plumbing in your future =)

i already have a 1" manifold on top - you're saying i should run a 1.5" pvc to that and that will help?

You need to run 1.5" pipe as far as you can than reduce it down to 1". If you put the 4x1" manifold right and the return, you will loose lots of flow and add more pressure into the pumps. Your pump may run hot and burn out in a short period.

Loc, your return is 1" not 3/4". You need to let go of that 90G tank that you used to have.

Golan, go get 2 elbows, 3 tees and 4 reducer 1.5"-1", 10f of 1.5" PVC pipe and couple feets of flexible PVC you should be good to go. It will fix your noice problem, more flow and your pump will last longer. If you need any help. feel free to PM me. I ran the plumbing in Loc01 tank he seem to like it.

i spoke to chris and beth at mdm - relaly nice folks.
they told me it may be the fan cover inside the pump - since the noise is coming from the motor area - not the discharge area.
i will try to re-adjust the fan and will post again

:lol: yeppers, that'll do it ..If you would have said it was coming from the back end of the motor we might have shortened this thread some.....but you said "I think its coming from the impeller" :uzi:
