Reeflo Dart question

I have a Dart pump with the A.O motor. I bought the pump used and found it had bad bearings. I just replaced the bearings and everything works great but I'm wondering how warm the motor should get. It's definatly not hot but does get pretty warm. Is this normal? Is there a fan mod that can help?
Any advise would be appreciated.

you could put a clip on fan so it blows on the motor. mine gets pretty warm too, but not so bad i can't put my hand on it

i just went through barracudas and wound up with manta ray pumps lots of heat too chris at reeflo said it was normal....... LOTS OF HEAT i am also haveing a cavatation sound did your pump make a sound that could be confused for cavatation? i am going to be trying to fix the sound this week not sure where to start or to just send it back for a replacement......

The intake plumbing cannot be smaller then the input. That will def cause cavitation. If the run is long the plumbing should be larger.

The dart with ai smith is hot. Your fine.

yeah intake is .5 inchs larger than the intake... and total of 4 inches of outlet..... got the basics i think have tried out a few different plumbing configurations i think it is the pump or a bearing in my case, and i agree with racer the heat is probably ok

Thanks again everyone. My tank is still in the build stage so I'm going to plumb this into a bucket and let it run for a few days.

Since I have everyone here, any advice on closed loop outlet locations. i was going to use 2-1.5" drains in the bottom to supply this pump and I was thinking 6 or 7-1" outlets. Maybe 3 on the back, 3 on the bottom? The tank is a 225g wood tank, dart for CL and Mag 18 for return.
