Reeflo pump flow dropped - how to fix?

My snapper return flow has significantly dropped...so much so that it isn't keeping up with the 550 gph pump feeding the frag tank, meaning my system has a big problem. I'd hoped to be able to clean it, figured maybe it was calcium deposits building up inside it or something, but I can't find any instructions other than those on Melev's for replacing a seal. Anyone have any ideas? (besides again kicking myself for getting an external pump)

You don't need a new seal to take it apart and clean it. You just remove the nuts and bolts holding the volute. Then take the impeller off and clean the impeller and volute in vinegar.
Check down this page for some pics on the basic disassembly. Ignore the seal replacement part. Not necessary for your cleaning.

I thought that vinegar voided the warranty?

If you clean it well enough whos to know, besides these are good pumps, you will probably not be using your warrenty. You might be able to clean well enough by hand with a scrubrush and water.

You just have some baby snails stuck inside the impeller. It happens to me every so often. Make sure you clean the impeller completely.
