Jeremy and others,
If gravity feeding one of these is not an option in my set up, what gph pump would be needed to feed one of these monsters?

I just bought one today and plan to hook it up tomorrow and noticed that some of u appear to have placed the long pipe after the T, but some of the pics(like the one on page 1 of this thread) show the long pipe coming up from the skimmer body going into the bottom of the T. Is there a right or wrong way to do this? Would be nice if the pieces were marked with letters to correspond with the directions.

Ben,
I went through all of the pics in this thread, reviewed my instruction page that came witht eh skimmer, and looked at the assembled pic on the first page, as well as the drawing picture in post #1.

I have the short piece coming up into the T, and the long piece going horizontally.
I believe "pwhitby" has it vice versa ... In the assembled picture of post # 1 (demo photo) it shows the long piece going from skimmer to T, and the short one horizontally.

In my drawing, and in the drawing in Post #1, it seems that the short piece comes up from skimmer to T.

If i remember correctly, I tried running the skimmer with the long piece coming up, but it brought the water too far up for my liking. that is IF i remember correctly.

I'd be interested in finding out as well.

Since u seem to be having luck with the short piece coming up i will go with that one cause it works better with the clearence i have....Got to luv those instructions ;)

lol ... i wouldn't necessarily call them "instructions" ... i'd call them ... "reference pictures" ;-) hahaha.

that really is the worst part of this skimmer .. the lack of instructions ... BUT .. it's so easy to get this unit installed, i did it in ~15 minutes i think.

Man, this thing is making my Bermuda look like a joke! Which made my ASM look like a joke! My wife is gonna kill me when I order this monster skimmer for my 180g. I really "think" my bermuda 5C is doing a good job but this Reeflo is a BADA$$ skimmer! Would it be just a stupid move to put this on a 200g total volume system that is medium stocked?

might want to wait for the smaller version.

Those with the Reeflo, would look at ur air valve(blue) and tell me at what clock position it appears to be at. My valve(blue handle) appears to be around 10 o'clock position and was wondering if thats normal...if i turn it to let more air in i start getting a volcano.

Also, how long did it take for the skimmer to break in?

I have the venturi all the way open, just make sure your water level isn't high the first time you open all the way.

I run my air wide open. When the air is off my water level is at the black coller where the thumb screws are. This seems to be the sweet spot for my skimmer.

just readjutsted it to all the way open and i turned down the water feed pump....thanks!

How long did it take for the skimmer to settle down and be constant? I am finding the water level staying steady then all of sudden i get a surge and it overflows....Is this normal for the breakin like other brands of skimmers?

I never had a surge. When my air is off and my dart and feed pump "740GPH" are running the water stays at the same level.

It took under 24 hours for my skimmer to start pulling gunk like a champ.

what size feed pump are you using? Mine has never overflowed unless I was screwing around with the wedge pipe. After about 6 or 8 hours it had a nice head of foam and was pulling out nasty stuff by the next day. :)

I have my air valve ALL the way open, when closed, the water level in the collar is right at the black line, you cannot see the water level from the outside, but when looking intot he neck, you see it being within the black collar. works for me. your milage may vary.

I found my problem, unfortunately i have to replumb the drain. Right now my Refuge and Skimmer are sharing the same drain. It appears that the refuge is draining some back into the skimmer causing the water level to rise. Man i hate pvc!!!!!

ehk. do you have pictures of how you have it plumbed? i'd be interested just to make sure i never do the same ... but also for reference purpose?

I will be setting up the same size system as you. I am going to be getting the smaller version. It will be plenty for a 200gal system. with the same dart pump with a modified impeller this think is also going to be a high air pull/top notch skimmer. This is the one I will be getting. I was told that production should start mid October. I think premium is bringing it to macna along with the baracuda skimmer.

Sorry, your right GSMguy it is a hammerhead. I just got done reading a post of someone selling a barracuda pump and got confused when I posted here. Thanks for catching that.
