Currently, believe it or not, am doing well with an ASM G-3 w/mods.
But I need a new skimmer!

I am very interested in a top skimmer.Would this be overkill for a 90 gallon reef ready with a 75 gallon sump.

Do you know about how long it will be till they release the smaller model Approx.

Jeremy - Also, what is the footprint?
Web literature doesn't show it.

I'm torn on this one, what's the recommend on a 220 (300 gallon total system) medium stocked mixed reef setup (heavier on LPS/SPS than soft)? The current version or the coming smaller version?

Just go with ther larger version and have room to upgrade if you so desire in the future. I personally wouldn't put the 250 on anything smaller than 180-200 gallons. Anything over that and I think you would be fine, all the way up to 1000 - 1200 gallons depending on stock load.
