I'm going to upgrade the pump, cup, and get the safety shutoff from Reef Specialty. I'm also going to add a 57w Aqua UV to the feed line before it enters the skimmer. I know ozone would be better, but it costs too much to set it up properly and I'm not comfortable running it in my home.

All the talk of pulling out more dirt.....

With the pictures I have seen so far how can you pull more dirt out? It already looks like the thing is a bad A$$ as it is. Can you make Chuck Norris any more of a bad a$$...I think not....But I am looking to be proven wrong.

Hooking my 250 up tonight and by the weekend will be adding some live rock. I am looking forward to see the thing in operation.

safety shutoff??? you have seen this where exactly?

Mike is going to show me how his ozone is setup with the skimmer. I might have to go with the ozone if I feel comfortable with how he has it.

Luis-
Mike said you drilled out your venturi so it was a straight shot down. I have a big problem keeping my venturi clean with all of my pets. I put hot water down it everyday, but it still clogs badly.
Did you notice any dropoff in performance after you did this? This would be a nice way for me to keep it clean with a small brush.

Would you recommend a Reeflo 250 with Mike's upgraded cup for my system?
It is a 400 Gal. SPS dominated reef with about 50-60 fish, plumbed together with a 180 gal FOWLR
with about 8 fish, 4 of which are angels. All attached to a 300 gal. sump.

I am thinking a Reeflo 250, ATB X-Large, or Bubbleking SM 300 when they come out.
Thoughts?

Hopefully, UPS will have delivered by the time I get off work.

 zaireguy and klasiksb, I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting to open his/her packages. Hubby thinks I've gone off the deep end.

Hey JRaquatics, could you read my post above an add your opinion to what skimmer would be best for my system?

BK 500EXT :D

I have never owned or personally seen an ATB X-Large or Bubbleking SM 300. They look like fantastic skimmers but way out of most reefers price range that I know. However I do think it is very possible to use a Reeflo 250 in addition to the Reef Specialty upgrade cup on your setup. I know Mike's personal tank is 400gals tank / 180+ gallon sump and has a ton of large tangs and his skimmer handles his system without a hic-up.

Thanks JRaquatics, with the upgrade I get close to the cost of a Volcano from Spazz. Would that be a better direction?
I have some questions for you about the Lumenbrights that I'll ask in the other thread...

Again not too sure. I have yet to see one of Spazz's skimmers in person either. I am sure you will be happy with any of the skimmers you mentioned, but honestly I can't tell you which ones will be better. All I know is the Reeflo 250 works extreemly well on the setups I have seen in person.
