No not too much because I am sure you have water in the sump, right? but they are coming out with a smaller version but still with the dart pump.

Keep in mind it will not be an actual Dart needlewheel, but rather a Snapper needlewheel. They both use the same motor, just different size impellers.

Hello Guys,

I just did the final installation on the skimmer a few days ago.
I replaced mag5 feed pump with the gravity feed from the over-flow line.
Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m using mag18 for the tank return pump.
At 6', and with a small T line goes to my frag tank, I think the skimmer feed line is about 400 or 450 gph. (I user 1.25" pipe)
I do not unscrew the collection cup when I clean the skimmer.
Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m just using 2 paper towers to wipe the skim mate + foam inside the rising chamber and in the cup (while the skimmer is still running).
I clean it every night when I get home. It takes 5 minutes to clean the skimmer and the skim mate bucket.

Khanh

This is the best skimmer that I've ever had. It skims 5 times more than my old skimmer.

The cup is from 8:00 p.m yesterday to 1:00 p.m today.

Jeremy do we know how many watts the snapper impeller will pull? Any other specs on the smaller skimmer? Pics?

No info yet. I hope to have the prototype before MACNA, but have not heard any updates yet.

Perry - I think this would be a good buy.

Granted I have just my measly 120g my only concern would be pump replacement down the road. I think replacing a snapper or a dart would be easier than a red dragon pump cost wise.

As for me I'm just saving $$$ for the end of the year for my skimmer upgrade. H&S, Mini BK, and this skimmer are in the top running form me.

Hi Eileen,

I need a skimmer that will go in my sump cause I'm running out of room in my underneath tank cabinet. The CA reactor and C02 tank already took most of the realstate plus I'm working on adding a DIY denitrator and kalk reactor that will also go underneath the tank. or I could put all the reactors in the sump then put the RF external but still in underneath the tank. But if do that my sump might overflow.

But we'll see. I have 2mo to decide and e won't be able to work on it till I after my trip in PI next month.

Got mine yesterday and hooked it up about an hour ago. Seems like a good buy for the $$$.

My son thought I bought him R2-D2 :)

Congrats on the skimmer! Ithought you were getting the BK what made you go with the reefflo?

My wife wanted to set a small reef tank up in the kids room, so I decided to cancel the BK and get the dart instead to save some $$$.

I'm pretty happy with my decision after seeing the skimmer in person. It's very well built IMO.

Aquaticman74 - I just ordered one for my cube today, do you have a build thread? I'm excited!

Its pretty easy to tune it to skim also. Just set the water level to be at or just a hair under the thumb screws. When both your feed pump and the dart is running with out air. This seems to be the sweet spot and its pulls like crazy.

I didn't do a build thread, but I have seen yours... ;)

It is what inspired me to get a 4x4x2 cube myself. You will definitely be happy with your new purchase.

ranran,

Thanks for that info. I was going to ask where everyone was keeping their level.

wow mike the skimmer is larger than I thought. I now howbig you kid is and that skimmer is a monster. I can't wait to come over and see it, I just have to get a 1/2 in hose barb for my dwyer to see what this bad boy pulls.
