Looks like I will need to build a cabinet then. I am attempting to mimic your setup Jeremy with a dart running the skimmer and rest of the tank.

I built a cabinet for my reflo 200. I just finished the last coat of poly yesterday. I can't wait to get the reeflo 200 and get it running on my 180gal.

I built a cabinet for my top off container....wish this was out then and I would have made 1 big one. Oh well.

Anxious to see yours up and running. I am sure it will be very nice.

Any updates with the new collection cup.

Does anyone know if this new collection cup really needs you to raise the silencer and attaching pipe? If so, can this also be purchased from reef specialty?

Wizsmaster keep us posted where we can follow your new skimmer and how your liking it.

OK, i am bumbed...my cup drain spout pop offed today....had to rig something to get it to work.

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade to the new cup. Hopefully the new design wont pop off.

My thoughts exactly...i did rig something that seems to be working, but the idea is now implanted in my wifes head that a new cup may be needed!

Been lazy! skimmer is running, making quiet a mess. Will have to get with spazz sometime next week to go over a few issues. I figured i'll let the skimmer run/break-in for 2 weeks or so until i say anything more ...
So far: it skims well, however i have a few small issues such as bubble rollout from the bottom box - very small bubbles are being draw down into the box, consolidate into larger ones & then roll out as large bubbles a few times a minute.

I have drained the collection cup 3 times now - was about 2/5 - 1/2 full each time. Was NOT black, for the first few days i ran it wet, i turned it much drier as of late in the week. I have NOT yet cleaned the neck of it, might do that one of these day ... like i said - been extremely LAZY!

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving!

Ben - the 90* elbow broke off your cup?

Yeah...just popped off! :(

The Reef specialty cups look to have a straight fitting instead of an elbow.

Benf that sucks. I can't believe that happend. Maybe that is why Mike designed it to be straight on the new ones.

Here is a new photo of the two cups side by side. And yes, that is Mike smiling.

When I installed the hose onto my cup the 90 popped a little like the pvc glue was cracking, needless to say I leave it alone now =)

Nice smile Mike... :D

That photo really shows the intensity of those bulbs ..wow...

Do you think this new cup design is getting darker skimmate or just more of it? Seems like some of the bubble kings skimmate is really dark to black in some photos. Not sure what there secret might be, but I would think very stable small bubbles with very little turbulence like this new cup design would help get us there. This seems to be a goal of wizsmaster as well.

I noticed the same thing with those lumenbrite pendants on the phishy biz. display tank...

Mike told me the upgraded cup does allow for better skimmate contoll in the means of fine tooning. With the added height you allow for even less turbulance in return gaining a thick head of foam.
