Reeflo/Sequence Skimmer Club

sweet! My thread split ... haha.

I'm not feeling up for reading through that many pages ... but has anyone done a meshmod on the dart needle wheel yet?

BTW .. i got my new volcano skimmer 2 weeks ago .. it's rocking! I still like the reeflo 250 - had great performance ... just wish it had a few options.

can we get some pics of the volcano??? i would love to see it in operation and also some pics of the different options you went with!!! and my 200 does not have any holes in the lid. but i leave the lid half off and i get better foam.

Yes, i will post up some pictures tomorrow. Skimmer is in the dark garage ... have no lights since i installed a "loft" in there for storage.

Options i went with:
Drain in body
Body disassembleable
Diffuser chamber disassembleable
Carbon lid
Wet Neck
Ozone Input
Gatevalve before pump
PVC, instead of black acrylic lid/bottom of box ... drop the reeflo lid, and it chips/cracks.

With the spazz volcano you can also tell him where you want the intake/output/pump special height constraints etc..etc... it's a custom skimmer .. and you do pay for it ...

My posts are in NO way knocking the reeflo's - they are great skimmers that come off a production line - as for the production line skimmers, i'd say it's one of the best. It's lacking a few things for my taste ... but it performs.

I wish that I had the option of buying the pro kit that reef specialty has for sale now. I have the cup upgrade coming this Friday and I cant wait. Mike was awesome to work with and from what I hear from all of you that have it, the cup is worth the wait and money. The Orca 250 pro kit is so nice it would have saved me a good amount of money if it was out back in Nov when I bought mine. I will post some pics of my new cup when I get it up and running.

what's the idea behind no holes in the lid?

No holes = no foamy mess?

I'd be interested in trying a taller neck on my volcano - however my neck is shorter, and wider than the reeflo's.

No the 200 do not have holes in the lid. The theory is that the massive amount of air is having a hard time exiting the drain line. By giving the skimmer another area for air to escape the skimmer will perform better. I have not thought of a clever way of making the holes so that skimate/foam doesn't escape as well. Open for any suggestions.

Drill your collection cup with a second drain line.

or you could just make a carbon lid. im currently trying to make a wet neck w/ carbon lid and a 8" riser for my 200. Well see if it works!!!!

The real deal

The real deal

The skimmer is not quite broken in yet (it will be two weeks tonight). This morning I cleaned the skimmer and I pulled out 3-4 cups of junk. Absolutely amazing

I dont have the pics of my hands but here was the skimmer last night

And since the thread split I would again like to thank Mike at reefspecialty.com for first of all selling it to me but secondly for the service afterwards. And also jraquatics for hooking me up with Mike.

I have had other skimmers as expensive and cheaper. For the money this is one bad @$$ skimmer...

Has anyone had problems with loud running pumps on inital setup? It sounds like vibration inside the pump.

I read on Reflo's site and their troubleshoot guide said to give the bearings 48 hours to break in. It has been 24 and its still loud.

Should I be worried? Do I need to send the pump back or just wait out the full 48 hrs as sugested by Reeflo?
