Reeflo/Sequence Skimmer Club

I am not in the club anymore since I sold my Reeflo 250, but I do want to give Mike Leonard at Reef Specialty a thousand props for working with these skimmers and making them the best they can be. I thought he was working with mesh all this time, but the needle wheel should be much, much better. Now that they are pulling so much air even the Dwyer RMB will restrict the air slightly but it will give you a very close to accurate reading. Again, 5 stars to Mike Leonard at Reef Specialty, this hobby needs more people like him.

just to install a Reeflo 250 skimmer, 35 hours ago.
and the skimmer, dont break in, until.
Somebody knows how long could take for break in??
or what I have to do?
thank you

not sure ... all depends on the system, how you plumbed it, what you used to plumb ... glues, cleaners

Mine has been running since friday around 4PM, and it's already kicking. Kicking well. Have probably about a Liter of nasties in my 4.4gal waste jug.

I just realized that it's almost been a year since I received my original Reeflo - It arrived at my door on July 26, 2007.
Took the original one down on November 17, 2007 and replaced it with the first Spazz Baby Volcano beta, which was replaced a few months later with a new & revised Baby Volcano.

WOW time flies!!!

I'm thinking of getting the gold, cup and the NW. I'm holding off until I read what others think about it. I have the 250.

Between the Reeflo & the Volcano? There are few

Reeflo Advantages:
1. Cheaper
2. Machine Welded / cleaner
3. High Bubble Density

Reeflo Disadvantages:
1. Cheaper
2. NOT modular. It is what it is. can't get inside to clean. Metric plumbing.

Volcano Advantages:
1. Hand made in the US - Every piece is "custom" made for your application
2. Scott will build it as you need it. Need the intake on the left? OK.
3. Fully modular. I was able to take the skimmer apart in 5 minutes, including the diffuser chamber & bottom box.
4. Bottom, Lid & flanges were PVC, not acrylic. Less prone to break on impact.
5. OPTIONS! Wetneck? OK. Spraydown? OK. Carbon Lid? OK. Auto Shutoff? OK. Custom Height? OK.
6. Scott directly - when you can get a hold of him, you have 1 person to talk to.

Volcano Disadvantages:
1. Price.
2. (#6) - Scott. He is a 1 man shop. He is great to work with. NEVER LET ME DOWN in the end. But sometimes it took a few tries to get a hold of him, and he is backlogged. He said that will change soon, as he is getting help in the shop.
3. Not machine welded. While Scotts workmanship is great, it does not match the reeflo's picture perfect machine welds 100%.
This NEVER once was an issue to me.
All of his welds were solid & true. His cuts are clean, as they are CNC'ed - but you can tell on a few welds that they are done by hand. This would NOT deter, or keep me in the slightest to buy from scott again. This was only on the inside of the skimmer, around the cone. Was not visible from outside, and I did not see this until i cleaned the skimmer for the new owner. This is a Hand Built, Custom product for you.

I have to say the decision was NOT easy by any means. The skimmer was very very well built, and had the options I was longing for when I had the regular reeflo 250. I just had the urge to play with the reeflo 250 PRO and test it out. What can I say .. I get around.

You skimmer Slu**.:p

I think it is time for consoling and treatment.:D

I hate to wake everyone up this late at night, but i just found out that the Reeflo 250 PRO w/ a drilled out valve SUCKS!

:: pun intended! ::

I started to play with the valve ...

Standard valve w air silencer 142w
Standard valve w/ air silencer top removed 140w
Standard valve w/out tube & air silencer 138w
First 2 reducers cut off from valve 137w
Valve removed 130w-131w

Then I started to drill out the valve. Now I'm at 3/8" hole. Air valve still functional.

3/8" drilled out valve, tube & top of silencer removed 133w-134w

This thing SUCKS! :D

becarefull not running the hose on it...i tried it once and if the power goes out you will have a flood come out of the hole.

I saw the same type of results when I cleaned my venturi with it running wizsmaster. I'll take a look at the valve again tonight to see what you're referencing.
