Reeflo/Sequence Skimmer Club

Mine has been doing weel with the NW mod, i would like to start mods on the air intake...only thing i have done so far with that is cut the 1st notches off the valve and drill the hole a hair larger.

My watts are still on the high side, but am using the AO motor. i am running around 150watts My air meter showed ~90-95

I need to replace my black piece that fits onto the pump the valve screws into. This is the second time i must have put too much teflon tape on the threads cause it split while hand tightening it. I told Mike i will wait for a final mod specs and try it on mine before i replace it with a new one again.

I am happy to see the results everyone is getting from the NW upgrades. NOW LETS SEE SOME PICS!!!

Alright I officially thought I would never say this but here it comes...
I am pulling to much air for my skimmers body/neck. I am pulling 90-95 schf (2,714LPH) at 107 watts. I think the ideal air pull for this body would be closer to 70-75 scfh. The skimmer is injecting so much air at a given time that the neck becomes turbulent. I have no way of adjusting the type of skimmate pull (wet vs. dry) since I have the wedge valve all the way open and feeding 100-200 GPH. This is a whole lot of air guys even with the upgrade neck. I am hoping that the stock venturi will give me a happy medium, like what Spongebobby is getting with his 200 setup.

not much to see ... but here are the pics.

There is just something wrong with those pics. It looks like you hooked your skimmer up to a sewage plant.

It absolutely smelled like it too. I will have to build a carbon contraption for this baby ...

Your chaeto looks like that?!?!?!

ROFL ... just what i was thinking too!

Have any ideas? I would think a wiper mechanism would be optimally better, no? I wonder how well a wetneck would work on a reeflo. I believe that would be easier and cheaper to do.

wizsmaster= On the first pic, why do you have the lid propped up like that? That skimmate looks really nasty and the smell most mach its looks.

the holes on the old lid were not large enough. Subsequently there was a little back-pressure. I also had the drain-plug clogged, and no external tube hooked up. If i have the lid closed, the wattage draw goes up by about 3-4w.

I will most likely drill the holes out, or add a few. haven't made up my mind yet. I believe mike said this has been changed on the current lids he sends out with the PRO kit now.

IMO drains shouldn't be used to accommodate air flow. Skimmate tends to collect, slowdown and even clog cup drains even larger than 1/2. Adequate size holes in the lid are a must with skimmers of this caliber. Although it would be nice to have a JG fitting or valve of some sorts.

I increased the holes in the aftermarket lid slightly. I'm going to let it run for a couple days, but I still feel airflow coming out of my drain (likely need just a little more).
