Reefsavvy's Ghost Overflow: Patent Pending?

anyone have a link that really shows how this system works, the few pictures ive seen make it look alot like the glass holes style overlfow boxes with 3 drains in the external box.

According to their Facebook page in the comments section Felix did state that they will have the Ghost Overflow in self install kit form. I sent them an email asking to be put on a mailing list for the kit. He said they are working on setting up a Pre-order page for it and people on the mailing list will be notified when the pre-order page is up. It looks like an interesting overflow. I can build my own coast to coast with a Bean Animal overflow, but I would rather buy a kit then make my own when I get my tank.

Now tell me the processes that Elos and Reefsavvy do that compare to your $4500 bookcase.

There's more custom aquarium manufacturing companies, besides Elos & ReefSavvy, that share identical/similar standards in craftsmanship ...

However, to the point, its apparent you're not even informed of/familiar with many of the(se) advanced processes, encompassed within the aforementioned custom aquarium manufacturing field/sector.

Due to this informational dissociation, one could provide the most compelling argument, pertinent to the situation, and you still wouldn't comprehend/"get it" ... Unfortunately, for myself and others who help/consult, with other uninformed members of the hobby on more important/crucial aspects, this phenomena is one which exists entirely too frequently; in this hobby particularly for some reason (everyone is an instant expert !) ... For this I eternally repeat, "If you're not fully informed of, and/or don't completely know/understand, what it is that you're speaking on/arguing about, then learn your place/topic/information before making a fool of yourselves".

That is a particularly silly and vacuous post. So you are the expert? Well if I had know that before I wouldn't have bothered to think about the subject. Thank you for the education. Except that you gave none. The old "everybody's an expert but I'm the only real expert so trust me even though I won't tell you a single fact to support what I am saying" argument is tired and absurd. And makes you look like a fool. But you probably can't see that because you're such an expert you are not required to use logic any longer, you simply "declare" what is.

Frankly, I didnt feel the need for supportive facts/figures.. You've done a well enough job, beating the "unsupported particulars" into the ground, for all of us here ...

"Trust me" when I say the only facts/knowledge/information, related to Reefkeeping/Marine Biology, not to be considered on an expert level, by one who would know, is that of finish carpentry

Afishionado, although amusing to read, perhaps instead of lining your Seventh post with more of your fondness for ambiguity, you could offer some counters to the actual core topics at hand, those of which can be found in the first post on page 1.

Yeah... I can't understand your posts, afishionado. Separate your sentences and your thoughts with punctuation.

Back on topic!
Reefsavvy has a page on their site for the Ghost Overflow. $250.00 for the 24" long overflow and $250 for the 16" long overflow. They are taking pre-orders now and general availability will be after the first of they year. Haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I'd like to get the 24" version, but tack on that price to a new Acrylic tank, and it starts to get up in price. I guess I could find a used Acrylic tank. I just don't want a glass tank if I can avoid it. A 100 gallon acrylic tank is much easier to move. Why does this have to be such an expensive hobby. :-)

What size will your new tank be? And I'm curious, why are you wanting to avoid glass tanks?

I wish this hobby was cheaper, too. :)

Brandon

Mainly because I hate moving them. Acrylic is a little easier to move. The size of tank that I'm thinking about setting up has been in the 75 to 100 gallon range. I'm leaning towards a 100 gallon. A five foot tank is just about right for me. It's large enough to have an nice variety of animals. Once you start getting beyond the 100 gallon mark the expense starts to climb rather quickly. I think that's a reasonable size for me to manage. :)

I had never thought about them being different to move. Are acrylic tanks lighter? Forgive my ignorance... I've only had glass. :)

Makes sense on the size! I just got a 180g for free from a guy who needed it torn down quickly or I'd probably have a 120 or so.

Brandon

They are lighter when comparing it to the same size glass tank. It can take less people to move a acrylic tank than a glass one generally speaking. I can actually handle an empty 100 gallon acrylic tank. Glass tanks are nice especially the rimless or eurobraced types. I just have a preference for acrylic.

If I were to buy (which I probably will) the overflow it would be the 24" version. I just don't what a big overflow inside the tank if I can avoid it.

Cool, man. I am fortunate to have a very active reef club where I am and we have club suction cups. There's a tank moving party (and I use the term party very lightly... haha!) about once every two months or so on average, but sometimes more. :)

Good luck with your new tank! I am also planning on grabbing a 24" Ghost for my 180g. I love they're only 1.5" into the tank.

Brandon

Thanks!
There's an active club here too. Yeah 1.5" into the tank is really nice. It makes the cost worth it. I may go used for the tank. I'm keeping an eye out on craigslist. I can always buff out the scratches or have someone do it for me. Might not have to do that at all if the tank is in good shape.

The more money I save the more I have money for critters. I'm going to automate the tank as much as possible, and it will be a zeovit system.

Tempted to put my info in for a pre-order for the overflow....

Well, someone brought it up earlier in the thread; Here's my C2C I built on my 180, drained by 2 x 1.5in. ID bulkheads- herbie style

I plan to use eggcrate in the tank side of it, to keep the livestock out- it can work you know.

Here's the Stand Main Frame- a la Rocket Engineers stand building thread

Here's my current 125 that will be transferred to it

Here is what I saw few months ago on one of our jobs... Local company from NY did it.

Separate my sentences and thoughts with proper punctuation. That is/was proper punctuation, Bud ...

They're what's known, in the grammatical world, as compound-complex sentences lol ... Are you even aware of proper grammar/punctuation ?

But, then again, I wouldn't be "too" embarrassed; 85+% of all members here clearly aren't even knowledgable of that grade school information either
