ReefSpot ...

Your tank is absolutely gorgeous! The minimalist look is quite tempting. I am always back and forth between your style and the more "natural" look, but when I was in Hawaii I saw many spots along the ocean floor that looked like this with small islands and open sand. Stunning!

If I may ask: you seem to alternate between having a sandbed and removing it. What is the reasoning/effect of this? Clearly it is working!

Thanks Reverse Reefer ...

AirForceAquariu , i like clean sand, and sometimes i got a lot of problems to keep the sand clean , now i have sand again , and i wil try to dont remove them again , this time i have some sand clean crew ...

Best Regards

Beautiful tank and inhabitants!

I see aragonite in the last pics? Let us know your observations vs BB going forward. I'm BB and have some thoughts of putting a 1cm sand bed but I'm not sure if the biology gains overcome the maintance hassle..

Hi... Thanks for the coments...

I return to sand, i really love sand, barebottom is nice but need a lot of work to keep clean... Sand needs work too but i love the tank with sand...

Is normal the tank have a litle cycle but is easy to control with water changes, and with calm...

Many thanks my friends..

I used to run bare bottomed tanks in the past. I prefer bare bottomed for the nutrient removal capability; but you need many pumps and have need to have them appropriately positioned so that detritus removal is made easy and painless.

You are likely going to get algae and cyano cycles as the sand matures. But patience and clean up crew will greatly assist.

You may wish to rinse the sand VERY well with RODI water many times until sand is clear...its a lot of work, but paid off for me. I got minimal algae and Cyano on my sand as I cleaned it well.

With a tank full of corals I would recommend you add the sand over two weeks; every two days add a bit of sand by either pouring it through a wide pipe onto the required area, or get a large cup/mug/jug, scoop up sand and then place onto bottom of tank then slowly pour out.

Adding too much is likely to irritate the corals as there might be a nutrient spike and increase in organics and general irritation caused by lots of suspended particles.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Hi my friends...

After 2 years, the tank will grow...
The actual dimension is 180x70x60 and soon Will grow to 180x100x60 ... The work started, I now have a lot of plans and some work done, I will try in this setup to hide all the cables and all the pipes, a total clean set up, with indirect light in sump compartment and with some nice electric zone.... Here some draws done... All the wood is ready... Here you have some pictures...
