Reefstock improvments

overall, good show, but yup, room was small. I liked the raffle being separate and separate to win, although, it would have been kind of cool to NOT have a separate one at the end and instead throw all the unwinning tickets into a large hopper for the grand prize. Also might be nice to give a single ticket to everyone who came through the door - maybe someone could get something even if they we're really interested in buying one...
along the lines of the newbie comments above, maybe there's enough interest to have a friendly, not-so-in-depth talk about intro to salt water - good species to start with, common mistakes to avoid, basic difference in lighting systems, basic religions (opps - I meant philosophies) on skimming, additives, etc.... This might have been really nice for at least 2 of the 3 people that came with me....

I looked at this thread for couple days before I decided to post this. Didn't want to sound bitter that the guy was kind of rude to me. I'm posting it simply as an observation and maybe it will help in the future.

I stopped and talked with one of the Dry good suppliers. He was set up just before the U tank and had the dosing pumps and top off units. I've been looking at them online for sometime but it was nice to see them there and be able to really inspect the equipment. I asked the guy a question and his response was "are you a dealer? I'm here to sell to dealers.." and that was it he had nothing else to say when I told him I'm not a dealer. Why would someone come and set up and only sell to vendors? I'm not bent that he wouldn't sell to me but why have that guy there if hes only selling to 2% of the room? Cut him out next time and make room for the people selling to the other 98%. Just my 2c

I lol'd at this mainly because I also had an "interesting" experience with that vendor (the one right before the u frag set up, closer to the main door).

I won't go into detail unless asked but their spot could have been better used by a trash can or set of chairs imo....

Some manufactures will display their new products and give out samples but will not sell their product to the public because they don't want to compete with their local distributors or stores...but they should be out there pushing the product and answer your questions that you have so that you will buy it from one of their sources.

I agree, more than likely that's what he was supposed to be doing, answering questions about the products but to turn away non dealers makes no sense. Sounds like he didn't get that memo.

California takes some getting used to. I've made it to TAT and was impressed with their selection. Prices are a lot better this close to so many wholesalers. Yet I still haven't found a house so we have a dry tank and can only look at the moment.

All these suggestions are great and hope that they help in improving future events. Of course I didn't make it to this reef stock but the last one I attended, there were some of the same issues. I definitely agree that a larger place is needed.

I had a great time at the show! the only suggestion I would make is a space for the sells to get out from behind their tanks. I had to walk through numerous vendors to go look at other displays, gather raffle winnings (cool), and so on. Great work organizing the event.
