If you dont mind. Im just wondering where you get the money to pay for all this as i read your a young reefer on another thread? Dont mean to pry, just curious.

No problem kar, i work with my dad a lot and he gives me money for working with him and also Christmas and birthday i save my money for this.

yes its hard but it takes time and research to get everything right. Dont want to waist the money. I have had good success and i hope to keep it up.

Looking back, is it possible you could drill the fuge. im just thinking incase the syphon stops.

That must be a good LFS you have there to take back a sick fish.
How is the tang with ich today?
Seems you are having a bit of a bad run with tangs lately.

The syphon doesnt stop unless the flow of the water goes in there stops. Then when it starts back up it starts again. The tang is doing a little better today.

oh right because i had the same type of overflow before and the syphon kept going off. However, it was only a cheap DIY off eBay

what pump are you using for getting the water back up to the tank because you must need quite a big pump to get it from the basement

What is the temperature of the room the dispay tank is in?

What is the temperature of the basement area that the sump is in?

What is the water temperature of the display tank?

What is the water temperature of the sump?

What is the water temperature of the refugium?

When you check these temperatures, are the heaters on (orange light lit)?

Can you increase the temperature control knob to a higher setting?

400w of heat for a 90g reef seems like plenty. Just put both heaters in the sump where you can see them at the same time. There is no reason for it to be in the display tank.

What is the temperature of the room the dispay tank is in? 65-70 degrees

What is the temperature of the basement area that the sump is in? 55-60 degrees

What is the water temperature of the display tank? 73 degrees

What is the water temperature of the sump? 73 degrees

What is the water temperature of the refugium? 73 degrees

When you check these temperatures, are the heaters on (orange light lit)? Yes

Can you increase the temperature control knob to a higher setting? No because they are already all the way up.

Yes both heaters are down in the basement and i can see both of them i think my problem is that the one 300w heater is malfunctioning and i have to get a new one which i might be doing today if i can. Got a busy day. My uncle is bringing over so cheato for the fuge tank.

yes and the temp went up about 2 degrees and thats it and the heater was all the way up. I think my heater is malfunctioning and i have to get a new one and see what happens then because 400w of heat should easily heat that tank.

yeah, malfunctioning is the only thing i can think that would be the problem. what manufacturer are they?

what about a small PBT and then pass him on when he gets too big for the tank? i know its not the best tang for a 90g but i remember you saying about them a while back.

I don't think 300 watts is enough to raise the water temp from 60'ish (night time temps upstairs, probably quite stable downstairs) to 78 - 80. I think to overcome that delta, you would be looking at around 5 watts per gallon (500 - 600 watts in your case)
