ReefWise Fish?

the first wrasse i got from reefwise, once in the tank i never saw it again, then i discovered it decomposed underneath my clam. I purchased a flame wrasse two weeks ago and it is doing fine. I was surprised by this fish because I did the 2 hr drip and placed him in that night. That morning he was out swimming around, normally they stay hidden for a couple of days.

If possible watch them being fed and examine their behavior before buying, they might be still stressed from the shipment. Also, it would be wise too to check fish prices on line before the shopping.

i bought three fish from there a month ago. The three are still alive and doing well. i was distraught for a bit because the copperband had developed lymph, but it has almost all recceded and he is eating well. the reason i bought from there was because i had heard about their multistage quarantine process.

I never bought any fish from them. I'm stocked as far as fish go. I have been in the store a good number of times, I always thought his fish looked very good and well cared for.

I'm only responding because I heard their name brought up a number of times... tropiquatics. I have a good number of fish from this store. As far as success rates with fish, they don't get better. I lost 2 fish that I purchased from them... a bartlett anthias and a solar wrasse, both were not due to anything they did (solar wrasse decided the power head was a nice place to seek shelter while I was doing a WC and bartlett anthias was picked on by siblings and refused to come out to eat). Both were doing well up until their demise. 6 of my 13 fish came from them. I've had them all over a year and they continue to thrive.

I'm not saying tropiquatics does an excellent job with their fish, I'm saying their supplier does an excellent job with their fish... either that or I am just plain lucky.

I spoke with one of their sales people regarding their supplier... Matt. He told me they order fish in from Exotic Reef Imports, the vendor you see on the show Tanked.

On the same note though... I have seen fish that have sat in this store for weeks. You basically watch them wither away. The trick is to purchase them on their stock day, before they get exposed to any baddies.

I agree with James. I have purchased many fish over the years through tropiquatics with no issues. Come to think about it i think i have only purchased from there and reefwise with the exception of a few online. I live a few blocks from tropiquatics and work a mile from reefwise. Nice and convenient.

I disagree on getting them on their stock day, they could have been acclimated poorly and so you are transferring them to a different salinity again and could die from osmotic shock from the previous aclimation and you had no idea, even though they were acting normal in the holding tanks and eating. Preferably you get the LFS to hold them a week, if they are still alive and eating then, they should be fine as long as you acclimate properly.

Hey guys,
Our club has been trying to contact Reefwise to see if they would be interested in being one of our stops for our annual bus trip but they don't answer the phone. I went on here to see if maybe they closed up or something when I saw this thread so I assume they are still open. Any help in contacting them would be appreciated.
Thanks

Reefwise is still there and doing well. I was just there last night. Everything looks top notch. As far as fish, I've bought seven fish there. I had one loss, which was a trigger that jumped over and out. I guess he thought things would be better on the other side of the glass. Good Luck to all,

I got a undulated trigger from there great deal. Seven or 8 months ago no problem ill bet he will be alive long after this thread is active.

It looks like the majority of people have had a positive experience when buying fish from them. Maybe it was user error that my fish died. Anyway thanks for responding, and let you know the fate of fish five in a few weeks.

I've bought

2 kole tangs
1 lyretail anthias
Midas blenny
2 cardinals
2 chromis

The 2 chromis died but they were tiny so i dunno about them.

Everything else was fine and happy.
