ReefWreak's 29g SPS Biocube Adventure!

Thanks folks! Come on by for some free frags!

LQT I should stop by your place and see your new build. It looks like I probably won't be in a place to get a 300g any time soon, so with 50-60g being most likely for next build, I'll want to see what you do with a 57 edge.

Definitely! I pretty much have all the pieces for the set up. Last step is to drill the tank, build the stand, a controller cabinet and a calcium reactor cabinet. Once that's done, I'll finally get this thing up and running! :D. I will document everything with a build thread.

I hope you two and the little one are doing well! :)

Thanks! Yea, we're all doing well, nicely settled into our routines. I'd love to plan a trip at some point up to CT to see some tanks, and should probably get more involved with the Westchester reef group on FB so I can get around to more tanks again.

I look forward to seeing your tank build thread come together. Have you talked with Ca1ore at all? He's sorta up in your area and has a new amazing build coming together (not to mention an already amazing build and amazing collection of fishes and coral).

Yo, that's as clean as the glass gets.

And we do need to take a trip down there. CT we get to now and then because we have family out there. I actually am heading to Delaware Water Gap (New Hope) next month for a wedding, but my wife is supremely uncomfortable going away for an entire day, and I think my dad is flying in just to watch the dogs back at home while we're out.

A good reminder though that we should plan something before the weather turns. Hopefully you've gotten the ocean/shore out of your system and will be around on the weekends over the next few months.

Yeah, Simon is the man, just saw him a few weeks ago. I've been to his place as he hosted one of our ARKSC reef club meetings last summer. His DT is amazing but, even better is his basement fishroom... the support systems that he runs is truly impressive! I plan on giving him a hand when his 400 gallon acrylic tank gets delivered in the fall.

Hopefully, when you make your rounds in CT, I'll be up and running!

I am still going to the shore every weekend for remainder of this month. September and beyond is where I pretty much stop going. Though if weather warms up or stays warm into September we will go a few more times.

I need the time to get back into my tank and household things as is. For me getting that initial coral sale out the way has given me a bug to step up my game and get my tank back in line. Also tossing around idea of a frag tank setup again....

The guy I got up and running in my town recently moved and we have been able to set up a dedicated fish room. Routing of all wires, plumbing, and having storage and stations set up for fragging, testing, ect is awesome.

This is my top priority for the next house is to have a fish room. I used to look longingly at them and want the space but didnt understand how large of a value add they are till I started working on my friends house and getting him up and running after the move...

Imagine all of the toys we would fill up the room with if we had such a space! :eek1:

My issue is I need to sell other toys/hobbies. LOL. In September and October I go golfing a lot due to the nicer weather and typically cheaper rates. I still have my one motorcycle. I sold the other basically just to add crap to the one I have left lol.

What I really need is my lil one to start school next year and my monthly "childcare" bill goes from around 1200 to 400. That is a homewrecker frag every month I could be buying....

They grow up quickly... I have a while to go before school though.

Fortunately the space constraints have kept my hobby addiction down (though I did buy one of those knock off DJI drones from Syma for $30 because everyone kept telling me to get a drone and I wasn't going to drop a G to play with it 2-3 times when I go on vacation or whatever). PC gaming keeps me busy if/when I have some time, but I can't even do that like I used to since the PC is in the bedroom which is also the baby's room, so no need to invest in new games there (and this build should hold me over for a few more years), and I'd love to pick up a Chevrolet SS to toy with, but we have one garage and storage spot that I already spend an obscene amount of money on for our one car that is almost depreciated out at this point, so no reason to get a new car to live out on the street and get dinged and scraped up if I'm lucky, or stolen if I'm unlucky.

So family, sometimes cooking, my tank, and the occasional computer game are my hobbies these days. Not that I'm complaining.

Yeah, my weakness is boats. I have my fishing boat, a Laser sailboat that I race at the club, a touring kayak and a fishing kayak. I definitely need to get rid of a few. I'm limited in space as well, which I firmly believe is a blessing in disguise as far as my reef addiction goes.

Google's camera app knows just how to automatically photoshop for me.... I could never make pics look this good.

Since this is my running log anyway, few updates:

Swapped out the ESV 2 part containers. 5 months almost to the day (3/25 added, replacing them 8/26). I also bought a small piece of rigid airline tubing and stuck it in the ends of my 2 part tubing going into the containers, that way it always siphons off of the bottom of the container and uses up all of the liquid. before getting air bubbles in or running out. I'm not sure if I had any issues with air at the end, but I'm sure it empties before I think about it.

Also, it was nice that the ESV 2 part has more solution in them now from the factory, so whether or not related, I think I noticed that they were more easily diluted, and the block in the bottom of the alkalinity dissolved much faster than prior batches I've made. I also think the calcium part didn't heat up nearly as much as the last batch I made.

Which google app are you using wreak? Everything still looking great and growing! Time to take the top off and mount a 24" ATI :D
