Reflector Orientation

With a standard reflector that looks like this:

Since the ends of the reflector do not have any angle to them, wouldn't it make more sense to mount these reflectors perpendicular to front of the tank instead of parallel and let the actual bends in the reflector reflect light out into the tank?

I am just curious as I have been running them parallel for the last year and have recently noticed an increase in PAR levels the deeper I go in the front and back of the tank which I think would directly correlate with the bends of the reflector. This is probably common knowledge to some, but I just wanted to get a second opinion before I dismantle my light set up.:D
 
Thanks for the reply bradbmbj. Did you try them parallel to see if there was a visual difference in light output?
