refractometer recommendations

Hello I am on the hunt for a new one as my old one has broke. These have been hit or miss for me. I loved my D and D one it worked great but the adjustment knob eventually rusted and I was not able to calibrate it correctly. The red sea ones I have used consistently fall out of adjustment. it appears I have to recalibrate them almost every other use. so I sometimes doubt its accuracy. Just try the aquamaxx ones. I bought two. one for me and another for a buddy. both were out of calibration out of the box. One I was not even able to calibrate it to zero with distilled water. Makes me wonder how the other one will last. I know most of these are probably made in the same factory in China but anyone have any luck with a quality one? let me know and thanks in advance for all chiming in.

You'll get some varying recommendations on this one. Various regular refractometers, digital refractometers, glass lab hydrometers, etc. I like the Milwaukee digital MA887 myself. It's pretty accurate and stays calibrated so you're not constantly fussing with it. It also calibrates with ro/di or distilled water. If you buy the deluxe version for an extra $20 or so with the hard shell case, it comes with distilled water and a 1.025 solution so you can verify accuracy.

Take a look at the VeeGee refractometers. Expensive but very durable and accurate
