refugium flow?

Does anyone overflow their fuge into their main display? If so how many gph do you flow through it? The reason I ask is my fuge drain is 4-5 inches higher than my display and drains directly into it. and for three years I've been battling bubbles from the fuge drain. I have tried submerging and partially submerging the drain neither help I'm only flowing 100-150 gph. I'd rather not drain into the sump any tips would be great Thanks.

Is your fuge a hang on back type? It appears to be the way you describe it. If it is, I don't know any other way it could drain. Maybe down into the sump?

No it's a 20 gal glass tank I had drilled about an 1 and a half from the top and in the fuge I have a tee into the bulkhead that drains to the tank
