Refugium in sump

It also makes a good place to populate the DT with pods and to keep other cleaners.

Personally, I feel so strongly about having a refugium that I made a 50g cube to use as a Display Refugium because the new CADlight system I bought didn't have a big enough sump to include a fuge. BTW, the fuge had just been heavily harvested of macro algae when this photo was taken.

I also read up some thread up here where there are some members have really successfull with sps but they ditched refugium for some type of media blocks

If your not planning on keeping any specialized feeders in the tank such as a Mandarin or a Pipefish then an efficient skimmer and a little common since is really all you need to be successful, no matter what kind of corals your keeping. Don't overstock, don't overfeed, try and remove as much detritus as you can on a regular basis etc. Keep it simple.
