Refugium Light....

What type of lighting do you run on your refug? I'm thinking about upgrading, I'm old school so I just run a basic 6500K bulb :hmm6:

I use the Kessil H80 Tuna Flora. Chaeto seems to like it.

I upgraded to the kessil A160, a little overkill for a refugium but it's all good

I use a wavepoint blade in 6500k works great imo and is a lot cheaper then kessil

Yeah I've been doing the same since I started reefing but I have some plans for the refug so that's why I opted for the upgrade.

picked up a h350 magenta for my new system . . . curious how it will do.

I'm one week in with the a160 and it's working wonder! The cheato I put last week has almost doubled in size in just 6 days

I have a h380 it grows chaeto only reason I went with that cause I needed it to take up less space over my sump. I originally had a marshydro (300w) grow light which is actually ~100w in real life light from Amazon ~$66 that grows chaeto like mad. As good as the h380 but only problem is pretty big like a Chinese black box light. Give it a try you'll be amaze at how well they grow chaeto.

A PAR38 bulb mixed color works great for me. I won it from a club auction and used it for a refugium for the last 2 years. It was from rapidled. Edited to find the watt usage and its only 19 watts

AI Prime freshwater for a refugium?

Looking to buy a refugium light. I presently have a kessil h80 but was looking for a little more power. The AI prime freshwater is $100 less then a kessil h380 and I was just wondering if the AI would work?

Refugium Light....

Search Mars hydro 300 on Amazon. It's a 300w ( actual power about 90watts) looks size of a Chinese black box. It's 69.99 and grows chaeto as good as the h380. Only reason I swapped to the h380 is I needed room in my cabinet.

Problem being that algae grows on the light but it wipes off easy enough every tim I clean my skimmer.

I went with a kessil A160 that way I can actually use that light as a grow out for some frags as well
