Refugium lighting

Getting everything squared away with my tank. I used to have a five on my old setup and just used a CFL bulb. Anyone using led par 30 bulbs or should I just stick with the CFL bulbs?

personally always used a 6500k cfl always worked great lasted forever and cheap

That's what I used before but thought maybe the LEDs would work too. Just want a few opinions on what everyone's using

I use old, cheap Chinese led fixtures I got used for $50 each. I run a lot of white and very little blue and they grow Chaeto like crazy. Oh, and they run very cool.

I'm running the 6500k CFL as well with good results but recently picked up one of the PAR38 with mostly red LEDs (pair of blues) but still haven't tried it out.

I have not had luck growing chaeto with one of those 5100k cfl bulbs but like Ron said I used one of the black box leds and it is much more Capable. Something to consider, especially if you might keep a few corals or anything else in it

I am using 2 of these and my macro is growing faster than it ever has. It is thicker, darker green, and my nitrates dropped from 25 to below 5 in a couple weeks with no water changes.

Well that is encouraging; I have the TaoTronics 24w version which looks to be very similar. Not that my current growth is bad.

Actually I have a DSB next to the refugium and I often keep a new colony or a frag rack in the DSB. So all I need to do is dial up the blue leds and everybody is happy!

I run an AI prime and don't really see any improvements. Any ideas? It's set 15% of each green red and white.
