So I have a 55 gallon glass tank and I was wondering what how big of a refugium i need, what to put in it, and how it it is built? Any and all advice for me will help plllllllllllllllllease! Thanks in advance

so i guess what i need to know is when i get a refugium going what kind of filter do i need or do i just need a skimmer?? ive seen alot of things that say not to use a filter

your refugium should be at least the size of your tank to be effective at removing the nitrates

i would use a wetdry style filter so you can put a skimmer in one of the empty compartments

Well, that makes at least 75% of the 'fuges useless including mine. lol. Wet/dry's are more of a p.i.t.a. than they're worth. Been there. A used glass tank is truly the easy way to do a sump that actually works.

The refuge will help your tank but won't even come close to the value of a quality skimmer. Mine 'fuge is 12-15 gallons & works pretty good. The entire sump is a 40 gallon long tank split in three sections. My design came from Melev's site, also. It's version "F".

Yeah this is not very good, or very accurate information.

A sump can be any size and be effective, granted bigger is better, it can be any size.

I agree with checking out melevsreef.com, that will answer 99.9% of your question, also do some search's on here and you will get a lot of your questions answered.
