Refugium Sand or No Sand Poll ?

I am upgrading my system from a HOB refugium to a sump + refugium and wondered what is the most popular set up. I am limiting this to not including mangroves.

1. Bare Bottom & Cheato

2. Sand & Cheato

3. Rock & Cheato

4. Rock,Sand & Cheato

If it is super slow flow like I have in my remote fuge, it will collect all the junk and become a huge burden with sand. What is your flow like through there?

I am going to go with no sand myself. I am curious though to hear other people's thoughts on this. I agree that unless you really keep a CUC and stay on top of it that sand has too many negatives that out way the benefits at least IMO and IME.
