So I am setting my 120 back up and I just picked up a 36x16x16 sump from John at Advance Acrylics. It is a simple sump with 3 compartments. My main question is what percentage of you are using sand in your fuge? There seems to be a split with some people stating sand will collect detritus and others not worrying about it. I will have some chaeto in there but I am back and forth on the sand. Also is anyone using primarily soft plumbing while still splitting the return? If so could you post some pictures? I don't have my return split right now but I am thinking about it, however I do not want to redo all of my plumbing to hard PVC.
