insert some eggcrate at both side of the middle section to keep the macro in and use it as a fuge? Since there are no baffles, would the flow be too much? What else would I need to do to it to utilize it as a fuge?

The sump is a Proclear 300 on a 120 gallon tank. The overall diimensions of the sump are 12" deep by 34" across, and the skimmer section is 11 1/4" wide, the middle is 11" wide, and the section on the right is 11 3/4". The sump has lips that would make installing baffles difficult. There is nothing in the sump besides the skimmer and heaters.

The return pump is currently a Gen-X PCX-40 (1190 gph) that is being replaced with an Eheim 1262 due to noise issues. Since I will need to re-plumb for the pump, I was hoping to convert the sump now as well.

I would appreciate any advice.

Yeah, just add light and your good to go. Only thing your missing which you don't HAVE to have is a sand bottom to help with anaerobic bacteria.

Sure, why not! I'd stay away from the sand without baffles though. Don't want that geting in your return pump. Just do chaeto and a light and you're good to go.

You could always put the sand into a plastic tub like a 3" cake pan or something to get the bennifit with out the sand storm.

Thank you for the replies. If I am going with a DSB (4" in the tank), can I skip the sand in the fuge?

Something to add though. With your fast flow, algea won't grow as well. And you won't any pods growing/making it thier home making more pods.
