I'm running a grow light as a test to see what kind of results I get from it. It's not needed by any means as you stated. I have a daylight bulb that I can switch out if the grow light shows poor results as exporting nutrients from the tank. And yes you do want slower flow in the refugium for more contact time with the cheato. So far my levels are staying low.
