Regal Angel is Dying

Got him Tuesday and had been eating every day pretty well until today. This evening when he didn't eat decided to change some water. Seemed ok but still did not eat. Mix some more water for a few hours and when I started adding new water he started freaking out. I started some Parazipro and a little copper yesterday, have not added more with the water changes. I just added an air stone, is it possible there is low O2? There is a power filter and a small powerhead that moves water at the surface. Has some ammonia burn from shipping but no other signs of anything wrong.

What should I do?

Temp 79
SG 1.024
Ammonia 0.00

He is swimming erratically, moves around in a panic then slightly normal for a few seconds then just kind of drifts around not looking to well.

He had been eating PE mysis and some clam until today.

Has some redness around gills, I think it's ammonia burn from shipping.

Regal Angel is firing

Regal Angel is firing

He points his head at the bottom and kind of sits there for a few seconds

Gill action does seem rapid.

Dont add many medications at once, it could make it worse. If you post a pic or a video of the fish that would be helpful.

If the fish have ammonia burns to water changes and keep the water as clean as possible. It will go away. All the other sympthoms are probably disconfort on its part.

Fish will often stop eating as a result of a new tank due to water differences.
That does not mean it is ill or will not eat again. And does not mean a disease is present.
Unless you are very certain that a disease is present do NOT start adding medications as these will most likely not improve the situation.

I would do a water change and let it be for at least a week. Continue to add food. Regals are very difficult fish to get to feed and many foods, but brine is the best bet.

Where did you get the fish?

Didn't make it through the night.

The Regal was eating and doing well until yesterday. When I noticed he wasn't eating I did a water change, 40%. Then later that night another 50%. Since he seemed to be rapidly getting worse I added those medications as a last ditch effort but it was in vein. By that time he was just hanging by a thread anyway.

I treat with Parazipro and cooper all my fish in QT. Not going to risk my other fish. I got the Fish Tuesday from LA, picked up directly from UPS. Since he was eating well up until then yesterday I added Parazipro and that night he look good and even ate. Friday morning look ok but did not eat.

Please give your fish at least a week to acclimate before treating for no reason.
If you feel the need to dump chemicals in then after a week will be a better idea.

Good luck

Wow, I thought I was doing all that to prevent problems. I didn't know it was for no reason, guess I know better now. I added those three medications (after the water changes) because I could see no improvement, he kept declining in activity and started just floating drifting around.

Good luck to you too bud.

Regal Angel is Dying

I do agree that waiting a full week would have been better and will do so next time. However I didn't think that PP was so such a risk.
