REGAL ANGEL not eating

hi everyone i'm new here but not new to reefing...so i know about fish nutrition and tank parameters etc but i have one problem.

last week i bought a large yellow regal angel and a bi color angel, they seem to have ammonia burn from the flight as their mouths were red when i got them and they dont close their mouths.

i'm guesing that they have mouth infections?

i tried feeding them flakes and live brine shrimp but to no avail.even gave the brine a garlic dip but it did not work.so far only dosed some garlic by kent marine into the tank as its a reef set-up.

anyone know what i should do to get them feeding?

If possible and/or in Q/T, treat them with Kanacyn for internal bleeding, if and only if you are sure it is internal bleeding.
Can use dead corals to initiate feeding. Rub Fz food on the coral and gently put it in tank. Since grazer, may start nibbling or pecking on the coral.

thanks for the reply..whats FZ FOOD?

how will i know its internal bleeding?
also he is still excreting green stuff so i'm assuming he's grazing on the rock now and then or could this be from when he was caught around two weeks ago?meaning two weeks for the digestive system to process food.....

Sorry! meant frozen. HArd to determine internal bleeding but Usually suffering from shipment showing symptoms as you described. Methylene Blue to Detox Nitrite poisoning has been mentioned in hobby. Also Cyanide poisoning may be the cause but IMO, it may not be that if fish were shipped domestically.

the fish is from indonesia, but its the yellow bellied type not the blue belly type....

going to try using seachem entice with some blood worms lets hope it works, will let you guys know in the next few days.

i've treated it with ekto marin as it seems to be more of a bacterial infection(red inner mouth) to me but that doesnt solve the eating problem yet so also going to try your idea of using a dead coral.

I just wish I could be more help. Try Nori available from lfs or go to asian market to buy unseasoned seaweed (Green), small piece attached to rock or gentle rubbing b/n fingers. Not familiar w/ ekto marin but if it is antibiotic, why not? My choice would've been Kanacyn by Aquatronics . but don;t change the med yet. Let Ekto marin do it's job first.
Wish you the best and recovery of fish is the one of Santa's treat under the Tree! Happy Holidays! Cerianthus

PS: usually Bali, Indo are known to catch fish w/o Cyanide, but Who know. I'm there and you are not there. We just have trust thier words.

unfortunately you right we can never be 100% sure how our fish were caught,we bear the risk.

the bi colour seems to be improving and nipping every so often on the rocks now and then and the regal started showing interest in my zoa's this morning but hasnt taken a bite yet,but i'm hoping things will improve as ekto marin claims to be long lasting and my cleaners are working hard on these two fish....

check it out here

EKTO MARIN REEF SAFE

Thanx for the link. Not a believer of any treatment s that is safe for reef but will look into it.
"Monkey see, monkey Do" I believe this in fish too.
When one shows behavior, other may follow due to competition for food, thus start rubbing fz food or attach small pc of nori on dead coral. This method have allowed me to save many fishes that might have wasted away, especially many butterfly.
Wish you and fishes luck. Have a Happy and Safe Holidays!!!
