Regal Angel Primer

I should add, it's in a small tank ~30 gal at the LFS with several similar sized fish that are much more aggressive feeders. I'm leaning towards picking it up right away and risking the financial loss. I guess we all are at that risk everyday anyway.

I would not buy a regal that does not show any interest in food at LFS. I have had five regal angels before, and in my experience, if it does not show interest in prepared food in the LFS, it will almost never ever eat in your tank.

However, if it shows some interest in prepared food and tries to nibble, then it is ok to take it home as long as it does not show signs of disease.

NY Aquatics gets in juvenile Red Sea ones, mine ate the second day in QT, where as my Red Sea adult from my local store took 2 weeks in QT to eat. I will agree PIA gets in some nice stuff also.

I've had my yellow breasted Regal for almost a month now and haven't seen him eat anything yet. Hope he'll eventually start eating soon. :sad2:

Thanks for the advice, I will wait on this fish as I checked again and have learned it had not eaten. (Staff member just wanted my cash). It's still on hold, but I think I'll wait out for a eating Red Sea despite the premium prices they command here.

Nothing special. Flakes, Rod's food, PE Mysis. He seems to go after cleanings from the shrimps but they all keep ignoring him and just runaway from him.

Well if you want to do more than just hope theres plenty of info on this thread on what else to try... (you only have to look a few posts above yoursfor some suggestions)

I bought mine from Kevin, P.I.A. about 5 months ago and it began eating Hikari mysis right away. It is a young juvenile just now losing its spot.

Here is my guy, been in the display for about 2 months, eating his favorite food (Lifeline).

Sorry for the terrible quality, but I just wanted to show him off to other people who care! So thrilled to finally have this fish.

How does everyone else's regal feel about nori? Mine is not a fan. Do they need veggies in their diet?

Also, is anyone using AngeLixir or feel that it would be beneficial in long term health?

Mine loves Nori. Now sure about how necessary it is. My guess is the more variety the better. They feed on sponges in the wild.

It's good and all but I'm sure any type of food I put in there would be devoured before he even gets near it. So no special treatment.

Here are my two in my 300, sorry about the cloudy bad video. I still have the seperator in there to give the smaller one a place to go. They eat fine together but sometimes the male chases the smaller one and rather then retreat into the protected side she swims into a rock as to tease the male. It took a while for my Flames to pair, I wish the Regals would hurry up.
