I've been following this thread for awhile now, and need some advice.
I received a regal Sat. morning (ordered online) and acclimated using the drip method over a couple hours. I noticed the Regal was breathing a little heavy but figured it was most likely due to shipping stress. Once I placed the Regal in my QT tank, it was very active and found shelter in a PVC elbow pipe. I waited a few hours with the lights off and offered a clam on the half shell which it immediately started to eat. Everything was looking great despite the heavy breathing.
Sunday morning, I take a look and the Regal is now laying on it's side breathing a lot faster than it was on Sat. After testing my water (using Salifert test kits) all the levels turned up perfect, I decided to treat with Prazi-pro since dealing with angels in the past I've noticed them to be more prone to gill flukes.
Last night it was still laying on it's side and I expected the worse in the morning. However, when I looked today it was swimming around and looking much better despite the heavy breathing. I can't figure out what it could be, possibly flukes and the Prazi-pro has started to work?
My QT is a 30G long, with 20 lbs of mature (4+ years), sponge filled live rock from my display sump. I have also placed a 3" PVC elbow in the tank for shelter. The QT has been running for 8 weeks and I took a sponge from the sump and placed in my Qt filter which I have always done in the past. Using Salifert test kits all parameters are in-line (PH, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, Alk), the temp is at 77 and the SG at 1.020.
Any advice? I've been in the hobby for years now and am really stumped by this one.
