I've had success with herd of peppermint shrimp to take care of aptasia, have yet to deal with majano's in my system.

I added 3 to 4 inch yellow belly regal to my reef a few days ago. It had been quarantined for a little over a month and was eating pellets and frozen aggressively. I put it in an acclimation box to introduce it. My potters angel showed some interest but after a few hours none of the fish seemed to paying it any attention so I released it. The potters angel and my juvenile desjardini tang began to harass it. I put up a mirror to try to distract them and about an hour later the lights went off for the night. I was a little nervous while I was at work the next day but was happy to see that things had settled down when I got home. The regal has been a little shy but seems to be getting bolder each day. It is still eating pellets and frozen but needs to become a little bit more aggressive in going after the food. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to settle in to its new home. I've tried to keep them in the past but didn't get past a few days in QT.
it's nice that you were able to find one eating so well. and i really like the yellow/orange bellies! was it treated with prazi during qt or was it just strictly isolation? any way to get a video of the regal swimming about? thanks for sharing.

HI, I had a few yellow bellys before and they did not get past qt. I picked up a red sea about three inches last week. Had him in qt for just a few days to check for ich , he has been in a qt from the guy I got him from. He does like pellet food and mysis . I put him in my dt as many have said they pick off your rock which he does and I have some white and green sponge on a few rocks. I will post a photo as you never know with these fish . This is my last one if he does not make it

Well first off nice regal. Second just spending a day or two in qt won't allow you to properly asses the condition of the fish and any issues that need to be treated. Just because this other guy had it in qt doesn't mean its disease free so placing it into your dt was probably not a good move especially if it was already eating which is the hard part. The stringy poo is most likely internal parasites which should have been treated in qt with a combo of metro and prazi or general cure (metro/prazi) in one.

I had one one on hold in my lfs just last month and it came in and did eat for one week . I came to check on it and was told it has not been eating as well the second week. I checked again on the third week and was told it did not make it. Many people wanted to buy it over three weeks but the owner will not sell a fish if it does not eat well ad if you ask they will tell you.
One guy had said if they eat and slow down eating they do better in a reef as they pick on the rock sponge and what not .
I was told the fist was in qt for four weeks and treated like we have heard before trust no one . I will keep an eye out on his poop if I see it again I am going to treat the whole tank with prazi I have done this in the past it does not hurt a reef

To each they're own. I've treated plenty of delicate fish with no issues. And tbh if they can't make it through qt then they probably don't have a chance in your DT. Feeding is really the main focus for me in qt.

thats the other nice thing about qt. you know the fish will hold up in the dt, but now you have a possibly sick regal (worms) getting bugged which will cause more stress and may lead to death...

Mine was not quite 4 inches (nose to tail) when I got it, almost 7 years ago.
Its been in a 120, (48x24x24) most of its life, and is now about 5.25 inches in length, (nose to tail).
I cant be sure I haven't stunted its growth, but I've been in the hobby for a long time, and the largest Regal Angel I've ever seen was about 10 inches in length, and the rest have all been between 4-8 inches total.

Was ur regal a good eater? Was he in the tank with other angels or aggressive fish?

It still is a good eater.
Its been housed with tangs, clowns, and smaller fish for the most part.
I've been careful to make sure it is the biggest fish in the tank and I remove any other fish that get aggressive towards the Regal.
I've kept two Regal angels, my first was a Red Sea/Yellow Chest. I had it for a year before my Ritteri Anemone wandered into a powerhead and shredded the tentacles, releasing the nematocysts inside and killing all the fish in the tank.
Both that Regal and my current Regal took about 12 months to get acclimated enough to become aggressive feeders and to recognize other sources of food.
I prefer to acclimate Regal Angels and other shy fish with dither fish. Basically harmless non aggressive fish that are good eaters that can "teach" the Regal/shy fish what food is in the aquarium.
My Regal will eat Nori, raw shrimp, raw scallop, Mysis, steamed broccoli, flake food, and pellets. Initially, it would only eat Mysis and frozen brine. But it eventually learned to take the other food items and is now an eager feeder and will throw itself into the mix to get fed.
