regal angel

I got my Red Sea going on freshly cracked cherry stone clams.

Fwiw, all of my fish, including three venustus Angels, two regals and a multibar have been treated with cupramine.

Just go slow if decide to use cupramine, I typically go at half the rate the directions recommend.

Ive had my eye on one.
The guy at the lfs said 75 for it. Im sure i can talk him down as hes the owner. I got him accept 38 dollars for a 4in naso tang that i ended up not getting but wanted to see if hell work with me on prices

One thing....his shop looks like one big quarantine store and he was upfront and said he runs copper and methyl blue on his water at all times.

Whats everyones thoughts on this?

Personally I think stores that run copper & methyl blue constantly do so to mask disease/parasites long enough to sell the fish

beautiful fish...if you can get her out of the tank, try and scrape some of the lymph off her tail...you might even be able to remove that thing on her fin...
good luck...great deal on a nice fish!
just posted this in another thread...

I sort of felt the same....but if hes doing quarantine for customers is it still masking? Say for example i was to ask for the regal and he puts him away from the comunity in a diff tank for 3 weeks ...good deal?

Also, the fish ive seen there have been there for a while. Ive seen some be in the same tanks for months...they dont sell much but they look healthy and strong.
Its a toss up. Ill ask if hell qt in a separate tank.

If its in a qt at the store...it has somethint. Would bringing it home would IT return? What ever iT has?

Guys I cried a little bit this morning. Went to bed at midnight and he was out swimming around a lot. Ate some mysis and brine for me. Came down this morning and he is dead as a doorknob. I don't understand. What did I do or not do correctly?? I didn't start dosing the cupramine yet because I wanted him to acclimate more. All my water parameters are perfect. Please advise me, I'm devastated and don't want this to happen again!

My research on these fish is that they just sort of die without any warning. Sounds like they earn their "difficult" rating.

The LFS where my brother lives recently had one - it had been in a doctor's office tank for 3-4 years, ate frozen, didn't bother corals, and was on sale for $60. So he of course grabbed it, and it's done well for him. I think the key is getting one that knows how to be a "tank fish". But he got lucky - very few people are going to want to sell a happy, eating regal angel.

Sorry for the loss. Sounds like you did the best you could. Some fish just don't make it. I doubt there was anything more you could have done.

I know your pain bro, except I paid $250. Alive one moment; dead the next. Such a beauty too.

Take heart though. You had to take the risk at that price. I shed a tear too when mine died. Totally sucks, and I could give a crap about the money.
