I am getting an order for an Indo Regal.

I will treat it with PraziPro as a pre-caution. what other meds do i need to treat them? what are they most prone to? flukes? velvet?

TIA !

Like all fish treat with PP like you plan on and I would also do the TTM to eliminate ich or treat with cupramine or Chloroquine phosphate

The regal angel seldom eat well if disturbed.

IMO, the regal angel should not be collected because most of them fail to eat well enough.

If I were to keep it, I certainly will not go TT with this fish.

I will use my diatom filter and UV to simulate the dilution effect of the ocean wrt waterborne parasites (ich) and waterborne bacteria respectively until it eats well--then eradication of ich.

Great points, I was assuming it was eating well

Using UV to mitigate the effects of ich or other parasites is not going to end well.

The diatom filter is effective in vastly reducing waterborne ich. It is effective in simulating the dilution effect of the ocean.

The UV is for waterborne pathogenic bacteria.

I had two vertex df now one broke the other still works after 30 years.

I think DIY df can be done. The application is limited but occasional useful.

If you want to acclimate very well first before eradication of ich, the df is the equipment of choice.

Neither will a diatom filter. Some claim these are the miracle answer and I know someone personally on here that swore by one... Then all his fish got ich and died. He also swore by the dose garlic and selcon fairy tail everyday will eliminate ich, that didn't work either. I do however agree that getting a fish to eat well before starting treatment whatever that is (TT,cupramine or CP) is highly recommended especially with delicate fish such as regal angels

Hey, you "pays your money, you make your choices, you live with the results". However, generally tank wipeouts are velvet rather than ich (just an FYI)

I found the diatom filter properly charged to be effective in delaying the need to eradicate ich. It does remove waterborne ich rather effectively.

The DF is limited in capacity. It has to be sized properly. It is a matter of math. The water must removed enough ich in short enough duration to limit what get onto the fish.

A regular Vortex is enough for a 50 gal setup, I tend to think.

The DF will not eradicate ich, only delay the need to do so.

It has to be recharged every few days.

Often a fish has gone thru a great deal of ordeal in reaching the aquarist; many will not have eaten properly for many days or have just resumed doing so. Sometimes it is preferable to acclimate first before any treatment.
