Hey guys My 10gal tank crashed during that storm and I wanted to know what's the best way to get it back to the way it was? I have 3 corals that survived (hanging on barely) and alot of cyno and haire algae. What's the best route to take to get the tank back cool again? I have a/c 500 hob filter no skimmer 1 powerhead 20lbs lr with some life left on them

eh, just start it over. That's one of the things I love about my 10 gal is that if I get tired of how it's set up or if things don't seem like they're quite right, I can just pull out everything, put it in a bucket, totally re-do the tank, and put everybody back in with not that much effort. Plan out what you need, like having enough water to refill the tank. Use old tank water to scrub the algae off the rocks in. I've done this a couple times in the past two years and have never had a problem doing it.

Like I said though, think everything out to minimize the amount of time your inhabitants and such are in the bucket. If you're not going to have a heater in there with them, and a pump for movement, you don't want them getting too cooled off and stressing them too much. If you think it's going to take some time, make sure you get a heater and pump in there. Do it when stores are open that you can run and get a replacement tank if you need to. I've had the bad experience of a 10 g cracking rather easily on me before. And finally, have a bucket with a few gallons of new water in it that you can kind of rinse the rocks off in before putting them in the new tank water. Just a last step I like to do for a final cleaning. good luck

Do a couple of water changes... two gallons every couple of days. That's the thing I loved about the 10g when I had it is that you didn't need any "speical" equipment, just waterflow and heaters, the rest could be solved with water changes. I didn't end up making a HOB fuge out of an AC110 so I could have a little macro algea. That and it didn't take much to "pack" it with corals. but there's something about having a bigger tank. Have you thought of going bigger?

 .......Yeah, I think the Petco sale is still going on! I just picked up a 20H yesterday for 20 bucks, rang up at $43. Pretty decent deal. They still had some 29's and 55's.
