Related RODI question on zero waste

Hello,
I didn't want to jump on or hijack a earlier thread "RO DI What is it really removing" . I have a question about something mentioned in the replies.

"tkeracer619" mentioned returning the waste to a hot water heater. ( Obviously I don't know how to paste quotes).

I researched RODI systems extensively before purchasing mine and saw that as an option but never understood how you could return water to a pressurized "full" water heater. I would like to understand that. I am on a well and my water is terrible (500 tds. 40 ppm nitrate) and in short supply. We don't drink it.....showers, laundry, toilets etc. I therefore felt returning the waste to the well would not do to much harm. It will be diluted substantially with the regular household use of the well. I can see implications of burning out the membranes and resins prematurely but other than that I don't know. I can accept the trade off for pure water for my tanks at the added expense of cartridges. After all that is just a "Drop in the Bucket" compared to all the other monthly aquarium expenses! Am I missing something really important here?
Thank you

Sorry for the slow response. I have been traveling for a while now.

Returning the waste water to the well should be fine. I think a pump is required to inject the water back into the system when the house is hooked up to a city supply. A well might allow some other approach, but I'd ask an expert or just spring for a pump. Some of the sponsor here on RC should be able to help.
