Remember when?

We all have seen alot of changes in this hobby. Everybody post something that you have seen change.

Remember when we paid $75 for a stalk of Xenia? Now I rip it off and throw it away to keep it from the Blastos. (and still have too much)

I remember before I got into this hobby, I had freshwater, and I thought all the saltwater people had the attitude they were better than all the "freshwater" people. Now I don't even notice the freshwater tanks...I feel like such a snob! LOL

Project reef tank could use some anytime now that it has cycled.

I remember how much I used to spend on electricity and water before this hobby.

Mine has more than doubled. But we won't point that fact out to the other half. LOL

Yeh that would be my fault Im afraid, but hey everyone who wants it can now afford it :)

What will be next??????hmmmmm I wonder :)

I remember when meetings were at JO-MARS

Those were the best meetings, but we are slowly getting back to where it was and drawing more and more new members. I remember how many dollars worth of free prizes we handed out at those swaps too. I also remember all the controversy over having the auctions there.
Yeh we wont be going back there anytime soon but maybe one day for say the 5th anniversary if all goes well. Maybe.

No need to mentioned under gravel filters, still have at least one set of 29g plates in one of the attics.

Wonder if Barry would give me store credit on those?

Remember when we paid $75 for a stalk of Xenia?

When i first moved here i had to makae a 6 hour round trip over to ohio to get a stalk of xenia.

I remember when there was no CVRC.

I also remember Matt and myself flooding the valley with xenia. I bet xenia paid for half of the corals in my tank. I bet there is one pet store in particular that hates us. :D

LOL yeh they hate me more guys because I would take your stalks and frag them even further. You would bring in 5 or six stalks and I would frag them down to a dozen or more and grow them out, man that was so much fun! Everyone who wanted it got it.

The stuff became an almost indestructible strain within a few generations, not many realize it but if you have any white xenia chances are good it originated with Matt and Bruce my original strain (Petland) did not do so well so only a few frags of it were ever released before it crashed. It was hard to find xenia in those days and I remeber wholsale prices of around $30 for a few stalks of red sea, which would just melt a few days after you got them in. We later realized that sometimes they came back LOL.

I also remember Matt and Bruce coming to me and begging me (almost daily) to start a club. Somehow I talked Barry into it and the rest was history.

So I say again it's all your fault and I blame you both to this day especially for telling me about TUNZE

Heck I remember when undergravel filters and crushed coral were good and bistleworms were bad! Now it's the opposite! I remember when the "berlin system" was some exotic, expensive setup that just confounded the mind as to how it worked... no pretty much everyone uses a modified form of it...

I remember when I tried to help you find it locally and ended up with a 220 gallon tank.:eek2:
