Hello everyone, i have a bit of a dilemma. I recently started using a remora skimmer on my 38 gallon reef and and it has frankly been skimming like a piece of junk. It barely pulls out any skimmate and I have no idea what to do :sad1: Can anyone else whos used this skimmer offer some insight as how to make it skim a little better? All help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank You very much in advance

Where do you have the cup at? High / Low etc. You can adjust the height by how far up / down you locate the rubber strap on the cup. The lower the cup the wetter the skim/ the higher, a dryer skimmate. I have had one on a 55 gal reef for 3 months now and I dry skim. I am very happy with mine.

make sure you empty the collection cup and clean the neck weekly or that slows the skimming down as well.

This brand skims wet much more efficiently than it skims dry, imho. I use an Urchin, and wet, and emptied every few days, it's great.

You may also want to take the whole thing off and clean it. If you have had the skimmer for a year than it has probably accumulated some junk inside the skimmer.

If it cleans like the Urchin, you turn it off [didn't, the first time] and unscrew the tap at the top of the tube, run the brush down it, and voila! done!
