remove redbugs with what kind of dip?

Does your tank have the bugs or just frags you want to add? Here's what I do when frags I am adding show signs of the bugs.
First I get about two gallons of water from my tank and put it in a 5 gal bucket. I add a small power head and then crush up about 1/8 of the large breed dog interceptor tab. I mix the crushed pill in the bucket of tank water and aclimate the frags to that water. After aclimated I leave the frags in the bucket for 6 hours. I use a turkey baster and blast the frags and then once inspected and bug free I add to the tank.

As mentioned above, for a dip minimum of 6 hours of Interceptor in Tank water. Use 23 milligrams tablets. Dissolve the equivalent of 1/4 tablet in 25 to 50 Gal of water.
If you wish to treat the whole system to lower the mortality of crustacenad (Pods, shrimps and crabs) lower the dose to 1/4 tablet per 75 gallons and replace as much water after a 6 to 8 hours adding as much Carbon as you can. Repeat the treatment at least three times at one week intervals.

so intercepter is the only thingthat will remove bugs from corals? No iodine dip or other coral dips will do the trick?

Nope.

I beg to differ until you try tropic marin pro coral cure don't assume interceptor is the only way to treat incoming corals.

I agree with Clkwrk, I have had plenty of corals come in with red bugs, dipped them in TMPCC, and it killed them. I'm not going to say it's 100%, but so far so good (knock on wood)

where are you guys getting all these corals that have red bugs?

I am ready for some new frags and I am not sure where to order from. I wouldn't mind getting some nice frags from fragfarmer or finding some of the nicer ORA frags somewhere.

When treating with the TMPCC what is the recommended method?

I bought a small frag of pocillo from a LFS and it had red bugs. I dipped them in iodine for 20 minutes and noticed that all the visible red bugs were off the frag. I have not seen any on my frag since.

I want to see a picture of this.. RB's dont get on pocilipora as far as I know.. you sure it is pocilipora?

My first frag that infested my tank along time ago was a stylo. Wilkipedia or what ever it is says it effects all acros but some are more resilante. But I don't trust the free encyclopedia because its just that free and most of the info IMO is here say on alot of topics.

I had a red bug infestation on one of my acros so I dipped it in a weak solution of lugals . All of the bugs floated up to the surface in 10 minutes.I used about 15 drops to 1 cup of water. Well I geuss it wasent a weak solution after all, but it did the trick.

From Eric Borneman's website:

"Abstract
The harpacticoid copepod Tegastes acroporanus, new species, is associated with the scleractinian coral Acropora florida (Dana) at Enewetak Atoll. Until now only one harpacticoid species, Tegastes georgei Marcus and Masry, 1970, from Stylophora and Pocillopora in the Gulf of Elat, has been known to be associated with hard corals. The two species of Tegastes from corals resemble each other in the form of leg 5 in the female, but differ in the nature of the setae of the exopod of leg 4 and in the degree of sexual dimorphism in the first antenna of the male."

I think this both explains some people not having any negative problems w/ RB in their systems and the fact of people finding some on stylo and poci. There are two different kinds. The ones most of us hate are the T. acroporanus and the ones you may have found on poci and stylo were probably T. georgei.

Well that would explain why I have no problems and never have seen infestations like those pictured above.

Only thing that goes against the grainis they are on my acros and I don't see any on my stylos or pocci's.

Ive seen frags under a mesoscope that were claimed to have been dipped with TMPCC that still had ACTIVE red bug colonies. fewer in number im sure but they werent dead.
