removing a large heddoni

Hi, I was just wondering if any one could give me any tips on how to saftly remove a large (12"-15") heddoni anemone. He is in the gravel between two rocks and securely planted to bottom of the tank. I love him but am going to have to find a home for him and his hosting saddleback b/c he is out growing my 120g and eats everybody (numerous fish, snails, starfish etc.) Thanks, Merek-

Being on the glass it sounds difficult! I would try a tukey baster to blast away the foot as you peel it back... I have had good luck with this method.

Thanks Danikowa, I'll give it a try but he's huge and very sticky and loves to grab anything especially my hand. Then into the nano they go. I'll post on how it goes.

Get a Credit Card and slowly edge him out. They are a PITA to get it unattached. Get a power head and blast him while you are at it.

I would not use a crdit card.I would get a pair of gloves and wash them off and start to massage the foot till it starts to come lose.Once it comes lose try and gently very gently peel the foot of the glass. When you have done so inspect the foot to see if there is any dameage done.

Yea, you will need to wear some glove -- otherwise it will stick to your hand and won't get anywhere.

Clear as much (( if not all )) of the sand away from it and GENTLY work the edges of the foot to get it to release. I can't stress enough to be GENTLE during the process. It is very easy to end up damaging it. I did that with my blue Haddoni years ago, got very lucky that it made a full recovery.

And I wouldn't be surprised if part of the foot is attached to the underside of one (( if not both )) of the rocks. Will have to be very careful about that part. I recently moved my tan one to another tank, and it was attached to the underside of the rock, and the glass bottom of the tank. The glass was the easy part. As for the rock, I now have 3 smaller rocks -- I chiseled it apart.

use a large plastic bag to cover him up except the foot. Then you can work on the foot without having to worry about him attach to you. Just use finger nail to remove part of the foot up from the glass. Once a little is off the glass removing the rest is easy. It actually not hard to remove anemone from glass.

If you can see his foot under the tank try using an ice cube on his foot through the glass to irritate his foot and maybe get you finger nail or a credit card under the foot.
